I dont like either (except the Chisel version of James), but at least the NRL saved a heaps of dosh by not getting some out of date foreigner.
Why oh why didnt Liam Gallagher punch that twat out when he had the chance is beyond me.

I can see that you took on the spirit of Liam Gallagher there for a sentence. Although he would have used the c word

They are both washed up. Although one is slightly more than the other.
Robbie Williams is still playing 20k stadium concerts and is an internationally known star. He’s holding concerts at allianz and aami park next year.
Jimmy? Well he played in the park behind my house the other week to a couple of thou tops lol.
Williams has 14 UK number one albums and 14 number one singles as a solo artist, and played to 375k people at knebworth.
but yeh they are both washed up stars of a similar stature lol

If we are being serious now then Robbie Williams is not as popular as he once was. Not saying he isn’t still popular but you wouldn’t compare his popularity now to say modern international pop stars like Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, The Weekend etc would you?

No but we’re not comparing that, we are comparing robbie Williams to jimmy barnes lol. Williams is still an international star who plays to large crowds..jimmy, we’ll he hasn’t been that for 35 years lol. But it’s in keeping with rugby league image so all good there.

That’s exactly what I said though if you really want to critically analyse. I said they are both washed up (i.e. they are nowhere near as popular as they used to be) yet one is more washed up than the other.

If you wish to refute that can you name anything either of them have done in the past say 10 years? The last thing that I know Robbie Williams has done that was remotely popular was that god awful duet he did with Nicole Kidman and that would have been what 15 years ago? More than that probably

Jimmy Barnes went down the Blues route
Actually had a number 1 album last year so the argument could be made that he is more relevant

It’s semantics about what washed up means i suppose. If you can get 20k to a concert it wouldn’t be my definition. Sure he’s not making hits for this generation but that doesn’t mean he’s irrelevant. Would you call U2 washed up even though they play to sold out big stadiums still?
Given the likely age of attendees at the gf I would think a former big international star from the 90’s/2000’s would be a reasonable target for the money you want to spend.
macklemore was great at the gf i was at and worth staying in your seat for. I’d be very happy to see Robbie Williams and no doubt the wife will drag me to his concert in perth next year.
Jimmy barnes? Errr not so much lol.

leaving all that aside and let’s be honest for 10mins of a GF it doesn’t make any earth shattering difference, it is still a reinforcement for perception.
Robbie Williams v jimmy barnes two very different perceptions created.

Well there you go. I get PR’s argument that Robbie Williams is more internationally known but a couple of points:

1. Who really cares ultimately? People are going to the final for the game not for the entertainment
2. They are popular for what they have done in the past, not what they are doing currently.

Too true. Jimmy Barnes fits in perfectly with the perception of RL so a good choice you could say.
