He was 20 years old and already won an Origin series. Was his son setting the world on fire back then?

Penrith got blown away in there 1st GF in 2020 against Melbourne.
Forget what Gus says that Penrith were the better team.
They were deer in the headlights were down 22-0 at HT and 26-0 during the 2nd half.
It happens especially when a lack of GF experience comes up against a side with plenty.
Just need to get back there in the next year or two and not wait another for another generation to come through and go through the same things again.
We seriously overrate our players. I'm sure all fans do. There is no doubt some Roosters fans who think their club should have gotten more than three merkins picked.we just need to keep building and gaining experience, all the best teams of the last 20 years have lost grand finals. The problem with our club is the lack of big game experience, we dont play grand finals often and our player rarely play Origin or international footy.
Hopefully some of our boys go on the kangaroo tour, hopefully its not a roosters panthers love in.

And since Brian Smith was doing it every club now tries to do it. That means more demand for talented youngsters, which pushes their price up. Suddenly 'junior development' went from a sneaky way for a mid-tier club like Parra (and St George before that) to gain an advantage to the situation we have now where the richest clubs dominate the junior competitions with youngsters poached from overseas, interstate and country NSW.That’s why you create an elite pathways system, and you fill your team with juniors that want to be there for there bulk of their career.
there’d be a few that would demand big $$$ and some will leave. But many will be on unders especially for the start of their careers.
Penrith are only doing now what Brian smith was doing here at parra.
Don't forget he's from Penrith's catchment but he played all his junior rep footy for Souths, another club that spends big on junior 'development'.Yes and from what I was told why Suali they didn't even bother with cause they knew the family and what he would create money wise.
The difference is Penrith were minor premiers in 2020 with the best for-and-against. They were legitimately the best team that year. We finished fourth this year but were the seventh for points differential.Penrith got blown away in there 1st GF in 2020 against Melbourne.

We had to play Penrith twice and the Cowboys in Townsville ffs!We had a softer then normal finals draw
It has never been a feature of our pack. They are power and skill athletes more than they are mobile toilers.Disappointing end to the season. What happened to our aggression and line speed?

We won a prelim in Townsville and still had fewer players picked in the Australian team than them. It's time to stop blaming the coach. He obviously did a good job with the squad he has. He also had some luck, just not on grand final day. It all comes out in the wash.
We were paying $3 to win immediately after beating the Cowboys ffs. Massive outsiders long before Brad Arthur prepared the team worse than you would have done if only you were in charge.I disagree. We had the team and the talent.
Because he only has one job, and only had to do it for 35 minutes. His job is defensive effort. Only Salmon and the two hookers made fewer runs than him yesterday.Leota belted us into submission.
Considering we had less than 40% of the ball in the first half I'd say we did too much chasing the collision and were absolutely rooted from it.For a team that is all about chasing the collisions we didn’t seem keen on doing it.
Another merkin who doesn't have to play long minutes. Leota (35 minutes) and Leniu (21) played fewer minutes combined than RCG, Matterson, JFH and Yeo.Him and Lienu are your prototype beast middle forwards at the moment. Compact, strong, go like a freight train
I honestly wish I had the confidence in our team to truly believe we'd be back next year to go one further with the experience of this loss to fuel us. The last time I had that much confidence in the side next year ended up taking thirteen years to come and it's the exact same result.Penrith got blown away in there 1st GF in 2020 against Melbourne.

You think that proves they were unmotivated? They were fatigued from having no ball ffsOur kick chase lasted two sets as well, but we were motivated for the game apparently.
Most likely he was having a breather out there which is why they targeted him.Good points.
Did you also notice a few times that RCG was defending wide of the ruck?
A few times, he made a tackle on Martin, or Crichton...
Why was our best middle defender defending out wide?
No wonder they got a roll on...
It’s got nothing to do with scapegoating. The coach got the team to a grand final. He’s the one who picks the team, makes the gameplans and prepares the players so he deserves credit for that. Where do you think the team should have finished if you think we “overachieve”. I’d say we finished where we deserved to but it was a disappointing performance in the grand final. He didn't make the grand final ffs, the players did! Arthur helped an above average squad (as proven by Origin and Kangaroo selections) finish with an above average points differential and sneak into a particularly high ladder position. Then we had some luck in Townsville where they outplayed us but had some concentration lapses and we jagged the win. We overachieved this year. There's no need for a f**king scapegoat.
Maybe he could attack in the middle while defending out wide. That would allow him to play longer minutes too.yeah i think that will happen too .... but he was a heap more useful in the middle getting his hands on the ball more
Fatigue definitely got to us, as I thought it would last week. However something Gould said last week haunted me ever since:We were definitely up for the game. The outcome is a result of them being much better, not us giving up.
First week was a free swing and Cowboys in Townsville is pretty damn good. Do you think we’re going to play nuffy teams in the prelims when it’s the best four teams remaining? We had to play Penrith twice and the Cowboys in Townsville ffs!
