It's a common misconception. A five year $1.5 million contract isn't necessarily paid in five equal instalments of $300k

Since the club was under the cap in '03 and '04, they used the opportunity to pay out a larger slice of his pie. This means that this year and next, Noddy won't be on anywhere near $500k, which his why we can upgrade our existing contracts and buy players like Ross, Latu, Villa and whoever else they're looking at
