If you read the article closely enough you will see the idiot refers to league as "rugby"..but 21 is far too young to be jumping ship to the UK unless he aspires to take up Pommy citizenship and play for their national side!

that's what they call rugby league in the north of England you clown

obviously the media guy at the Rhinos has written a press release with "quotes" from Eastwood.

This is more concerning than people are making out.
Sure, he is not a top line player but he is part fo the depth of the game that is being wittled away and gives us such a poor quality comp when we start getting injuries.

We will find a way to keep our stars easier than we will to keep our fringe players who will get a stars wage OS which they wouldn't other wise get here.

Coming from a Brisbane fan, this really sux. He has huge potential and would have been very useful next year.

As a Rhinos fan I am not overly impressed with this signing. We already have a good 22 year old lock called Carl Ablett who will be pushing for GB honours in the near future. On top of that we have Ali Lauitiiti and current GB international Jamie Jones Buchanan.

Also on the GB residency note... LOL. We have the strongest pack in the world. Tell me how he could get anywhere near with players like Burgess, Peacock, Morley, Ellis, JJB, Hock, Westwood and quite a lot of good young kids coming through. Its the backs that let us down. He would get nowhere near a shirt. I think he may struggle to get in the Rhinos team at times next season.

He was just starting to show a bit of his potential this year. I really don't know why we let him go and signed Ben Teo. Its like going backwards.

Thats how we feel

We have let Ellis go and signed Eastwood. Would have prefered Pritchard but it wasn't to be. All we can do now is support him and hope he develops into a quality player.

Greg Eastwood still had one year remaining on his contract. So what are Leeds doing offering Eastwood a contract and therefore inducing him to break his deal with the Broncos?

And why have the Broncos released him without asking Leeds for "compensation"? If Eastwood wants to go to Leeds then fair enough but it seems to me the Broncos are throwing away money by not demanding that Leeds pay then a transfer fee for "compensation" in breaking his contract.

All this does is entice English clubs to get NRL players to break more contracts. At least in asking for a "compensation fee" it will act as a deterrent and might actually make the English clubs stop and think that they have to respect a contract and not make Eastwood or anyone else an offer until such time as the player is off contract.

The Broncos could have got $$$ for compensation but didn't ask for it!

If SBW had to pay up compensation for the Bulldogs (which I agree with, although it should have been more $$), when why not Leeds...? The fact that Leeds are a Rugby League club shouldn't matter. A contract is a contract.

Australia and New Zealand's pack sh*ts all over the English nuffies. Seriously you're the 3rd Englishman to say that on this board, the only decent player you lot have got is Morely.

Maybe because The Broncos don`t wanna see players unhappy at the club, so if he wants to go, they let him go. It`s not often u see players asking for a release mid-contract from the Broncos.

And after next season the only decent player England will have is Ellis.:D

Some of the NRL fans on this board really need to open their minds!

For the record I think England's pack at full strength can match the Aussies and Kiwis. Their backs are a big problem though. They really need another 5 Leon Pryces for the backline.

eastwood is a decent player, he's an actual 'footballer' rather then an athlete and he has the potential to become a very good ball playing forward. i'm pissed he's been released.

a simple way to stop the drain is for clubs to stop allowing players to break contracts early, ryles was allowed to dot he same thing. there's players leaving at the end of their contracts but theres also plenty who are going mid contract (matt peterson) is another one and clubs just let them go. clubs keep complaining about the drain of plaeyrs but they arent exactly helping things by just releasing players, and as you've mentioned there's no transfer fee...

A lot of the time there is an element of the club pushing as much as the player walking...

We are dealing with people here..Each situation is different..

Eastwood would never have left Brisbane if Bennett was still there next year...He would have become a mighty fine footballer...IMO

Jamie Peacock and Sam Burgess would walk straight into the Aussie and Kiwi packs
