What would you pay him to do? The bloke was a seriously gifted player, but the skill drop off appears pretty steep, Sponsors might foot the bill for a year or 2, but job for life? If he completed his contract he may have gotten a few bucks and a goon bag for a few promotional appearances here and there, what else would he be good at?
What do you think jt is doing with his academy?

Its pretty obvious why its been offered. That is the issue.

Is it? If I was Souths I’d have been trying to get him to at least see the season out. It’s not like there is anyone close to gi’s ability who is swapping clubs mid season.

Article is behind a paywall.

He didn’t change the game in any way other than capitalising on his undoubted physical qualities(players like Sailor were like that & Radradra was on his way to doing it).

I’ll maintain he’s been a great player but the drop off in his consistency over the last few years(or maybe it was always that way)means he’s way short of immortal status IMO.

The greatest player of the modern era. Combining club, origin and internationals, nobody comes close.

And it is laughable for anyone to suggest he should stay on our cap when it is obviously legitimate injury issues and not a Gasnier style rort.

Yeah I hope Greg's golf game wont be hampered by his bad shoulder.

Nope.

Not getting paid to play.
The issue he is not being paid to play

The issue is he is being paid NOT to play and see out his contract by the club .
If he was employed solely by NRL or media no one would be saying anything , the fact that he is being paid reportedly 300k plus from the same club he retired from is why it's a rort and other clubs rightly should be pissed.. manly could have paid Stewart and matai via a club charity too

LOL you obviously don't understand how employment contracts work.

And again Stewart and Matai contracts were backended..... And yeah they wanted their money.
