Greg Inglis avoids conviction over assault

Being adjourned means f**kall the prosecutes can drop the charges at any time especially when they have new evidence that clears the accused . So why hasn’t the police prosecutes dropped the charges ?

I assume the police still think they have evidence to keep going with the charges. Maybe they think her second, lawyered-up statement, as opposed to the original, unlawyered, one is just too rosy and sweet to be true?

Storm player avoids conviction over assault

By Sarah Farnsworth

Melbourne Storm centre Greg Inglis has avoided a conviction for assault against his girlfriend.

A Victorian court has ordered the matter be dealt by a diversion program.

Inglis, 23, appeared in the Sunshine Magistrates Court, supported by his girlfriend, Sally Robinson, whom he was accused of pushing in the face at a Maribyrnong home last year.

He was charged with assault, but police have agreed to drop the more serious charge of recklessly causing serious injury.

The court heard the couple had argued, and Inglis pushed his girlfriend back onto the bed with an open hand.

Robert Richter QC told the court that in a statement to police, Ms Robinson said her boyfriend has never hurt her before and she had got in his face.

Previously, the court heard self-defence was an issue, not because Inglis was defending himself, but because he was trying to stop his girlfriend from hurting herself.

The magistrate agreed the assault was born out of frustration and a diversion program was suitable to deal with the matter.

Inglis will have to attend a men's behavioural change program and to pay $3,000 to Women's Health West.

I thought St. Inglis was saving the poor girl from topping herself??

Now it turns out he just got angry at her and "pushed" her in the face?

STORM MEDIA: Greg Inglis Statement

Greg Inglis has today issued the following statement following the making of a diversion order at the Sunshine Magistrates Court today.

“It was in the best interests of all parties that I have today accepted the issuing of this diversion order,” Greg Inglis said.

“This was the right decision for Sally’s welfare and privacy.”

A diversion order is an alternative procedure to the normal court process.

When a Magistrate approves the diversion, once all the conditions and requirements of the order are met, the charges are discharged with no finding of guilt and with no criminal record.

Diversion orders are only available for minor offences.

Acting Melbourne Storm CEO, Matt Hanson, said the club understood the circumstances why Greg Inglis had accepted the diversion order.

“Out of respect for the privacy of the individuals concerned the club will not be commenting any further on this matter,” Hanson said.“The club will, however, continue to offer counseling to the individuals involved.“

At all times our priorities have been the health, safety and wellbeing of the individuals involved, and our respect for the judicial process.

“This has obviously been an extremely difficult period for both Greg and Sally and we now ask for their right to privacy to be respected as they again deal with an intensely private matter.

”Melbourne Storm Chairman, Dr Rob Moodie, said the club would always be vehemently opposed to any situation that endangers the health, safety and well being of all women.“We are absolutely committed to a duty of care to our players, our players’ partners and their families,” Dr Moodie said.

what a load of crap, what sort of a message does this send, i dont care what the situation is.....you never ever lay your hands on a female

inglis should have done jail time, whether that be a few months, or part time detention

to me it shows what a weak man he is......a brilliant footballer, but a weak, weak man

Looks like Inglis is in more trouble.

Williams, Turner, Webb, Soward to seek class action.

By Prunella Scales

Following the news today that Melbourne Storm star Greg Inglis has been ordered to a diversion program for pushing his partner in the face, comes the revelation that former victims of Inglis' palm have come together to sue for pain, suffering and severe embaressment caused by Inglis. The groups lawyer, Lota Bitches, says that the specific mention of pushing to the face was the green light they were waiting for.....
