I have a few questions about this man.

1. Is Inglis the best outside back you've ever seen?

I think he has overtaken Mal Meninga for the best back I've ever seen. Greg has been consistiently good for years now. He is quicker than Mal, better hands, more freakish, more evasive, better finisher and just as strong.
2. How will he be remembered when he retires?

If he keeps his nose clean, he'll be an Immortal.

Yes to everything you said.

If you could build an outside back from scratch, it would look and move like him. Add to that his ballskills which belong to a half, and I think he'll be the best we see for a long time.

The scariest part to me is that I think he'd be a lot more dominant at fullback.

He'd carve up at fullback bigtime. But, the second best back in the world (fair dist from Inglis) plays there fulltime at his club.

I think his best call is centre though.

Yeah it's the right thing for the Storm. I just think it stifles Inglis's brilliance a bit.

I'd still rate Mal as better. He will no doubt get the title one day but until he capt's his country then Mal gets the all round great gong for me.

As a prototype you would say Greg Inglis he seems to have the perfect genetic makeup to be a centre in 2009. But Mal has captained his club and country to success and he is considered one of the best captains of the modern era. Also Mal kind of ran right over the top of you whereas GI will use his step, speed. Both players have a killer fend. Mal could be used as an extra prop he often returned the ball off the kick off and he could kick goals and had a decent general kicking game in the late 80's. I don't know how many concussions Mal gave with or without the ball but there are a few.

Inglis for mine isnt aggressive enough in defence. Id like to see some big hits and good hard one on one tackles for him. But his fend, his deceptive speed are so powerful that he is the 2nd best junior I have seen come through for a long long time.

The best running player in the last 15 years IMO was SBW, but Inglis is second.

I always felt that SBW and Inglis were like different versions of each other, one a forward version, one a back version. Pity SBW threw it all away.

Good to see that Inglis is still on the right track.

I won't compare him to other but what I will say is that when he does something amazing, he does it so easily that it looks like anyone could have done it when thats not true.

For mine SBW was the complete, modern day, second rower. If the guy had a kicking game and played at five eight (and stayed in the game) he could have been the best player of all time. Sonny didnt appear to fully understand how to use his strengths, but in his last season here, it appeared that he was getting it.

Back to Inglis, he only seems to have three attributes to his game that make him great. The fend, the speed and his strength to break tackles. He is more damaging now, but when he was at five eight, I felt that if he persisted, her ws going to become more dominant then he currently is at center. At the moment, Inglis is the best finisher in the comp, but alot of his opportunities are created for him rather then him creating them.

I dont think he is as good as some are rating him, which will get me shot down because what he does do he does very very very well. Mal was feirce, awesome and a feared man on the field. He was intimidating. Inglis is not feared like Mal Meninga.

Mal Meninga was a much more intelligent player. He was also a much better defender, and there's no way in hell Inglis is "just as strong" as Big Mal.

Mal was a leader, Inglis will never be that.

Inglis is a better athlete, with better speed and evasiveness but that's about it.

Mal's still better overall.

I've said it before and was mocked - Greg Inglis is a future Immortal. I have no doubt about it barring of course injury, a SBW like move or a Tim Smith brain explosion or three in his personal life.

G.I. is the best back I have ever seen period. I remember watching him in the QLD Cup (all of 16 or 17) and all and sundry were saying he was just jaw droppingly good from fullback. Amazing actually.

When he made his debut, I would've loved to see him remain there at fullback, though you cannot fault him at centre. He is too much for anyone to handle. This guy is going to peak eventually (scary right?) and enter everyone's All-Time Australian teams.

What a pleasure it is to say we watched this guy's career turn in to what it eventually will be when all is said and done.

Enjoy the show!

The jury is still out on whether he's better or as good as Mal. But if he keeps improving at his current rate, he has the potential to be right up there with Mal at least.

He's a freak, the fact that people are already comparing him to Meninga and talking him up as a future Immortal when he's only what 21 or 22 is amazing, if he stays injury free and stays in the code he'll most likely go down as the best ever when he retires.

As complete as Inglis is, he is unfortunately lacking one important piece. All the great black superstars have one thing in common:

he received every rep award this year, he was amazing and the best of the best in almost every game..people feared mal meninga and people are now fearing greg inglis..the fear will only become greater because theyre realising whatever theyre doing, they still cant stop him or shut him down..he's a freak and people wont compare to mal because its really hard comparing eras..if inglis keeps this up he will be the greatest league player of all time..he improved so much this year, although i feel melbourne still dont use him enough and work around slater more than inglis. but thats fine because theyre both freaks..

in 5 yrs time, imo thurston will become the greatest halfback to have lived and inglis the greatest centre to have lived

I doubt Thurston will get near that tag unless he can take his Cowboys to a premiership. His kicking game and involvement can be inconsistent needs to improve immeasurably to compare to guys like Langer and Johns.

I don't rate Mal the best back anyways.

I would have Reg Gasiner and Bob Fulton in front of Mal. Mal was great though.

Inglis will prove better than all of them.
