Good point. The NRL has a duty to protect players welfare. Which is why referees take action against illeagal head contact. When a player lays down pretending they are knoked out, the referee has no option but to penalize.What is worse is that the refs reward the diver. If Carney jumps back to his feet then no penalty arrives. Cat like behaviour.
When a diver springs to his feet as soon as he earns a penalty and it is blatantly obvious that he was pretending to be knocked out, the referees should display some discretion and reverse the penalty. It wouldn't be the fist time someone was penalised for "milking".
Tonight Carney wasn't even hit in the head. He stayed down to get a penalty for late shoulder contact.
