Just watching Kenny last night, He's a gap magnet, sure most of them closed up by the time he got there, but it seemed like every time he got his hands on the ball he darted straight at a gap. Plus I love his on field attitude...

Some merkin asked Gus Gould on twitter last night who was the most improved player in 2016.

His answer was Clint Gutherson.

You couldn't argue with him, especially since he has been off the wing.

Might have to find that first game thread from this year to read how much everyone thought he was useless.
Gus is right...from that game to now he certainly is the most improved.

Apologies if this has been done before but was interested to see how Gutho's attacking stats compared to some of the elite and young, up-and-coming halves in the competition since he moved to the halves in round 19.

As you can see, he's not at the elite level yet but he certainly held his own against some pretty decent company. With a full preseason he could be anything. What I haven't included is Gutho's superior missed tackle stats. I truly hope we haven't signed Williams with the intention of playing him in first grade.

Anyway, hope you find this as interesting as I did.

Gutherson showed today he has a kicking game, it wasn't too bad. With a good offseason his kicking will improve a fair bit.

Great thing about him is that BA said he is the first one in the video sessions and training paddock and last to leave and is wanting to improve his game each week. An off season training at 5/8 and working on his kicking game who knows how good he can be.

Forget the hayne plane and get on board the guthbus

I have to admit that I thought Gutherson was your average run of the mill winger, a dime-a-dozen type player but he's done exceptionally well. Foran leaving, Taka and Kenny not doing too well there has given him an opportunity which he's taken. I was very wrong about him. Just like here at home with the wife, I'm wrong again. Haha!

Everyone? There were certainly some people who were bagging him but it was well short of everyone. I think most of us realise one game back after a long injury layoff is a small sample size

'Everyone's was just a manner of speaking.
There were a select few, but obviously not everyone.

I thought he would go ok, but am more than surprised by what he has brought to the team in the halves.
Plenty of improvement left in him still as well.

I was wrong too. after the first 2 games, i didn't think much of him. i would now give him the 6 Jersey too.
solid defender as well.

i think ba also had that in mind. when he first played 6, he was on the left. in the last few games, he was playing on the right. probably to complement Norman

Yep, especially when he is not a winger and trained in the centres most of the pre season. The guy has been a revelation since he was moved from the wing, he's played his last game there for us IMO.

...and he has played his best football since moving to the right.
