Like most people here, I grew up watching (and playing) Rugby League when Sydney already had a much-loved AFL team (Swannies). Even though the Swans were around, and I was happy to barrack for them, I NEVER attended a game, and I always chose NRL first. Now, this laughing stock is here and they think they can somehow top whatever little it was that the swans have done for me for the next generation of fans? LOL, nice one!
If the swans didn't win me over with everything they achieve, then the GWS Victorians certainly won't win over the next generation of league fans... it's simply not picking up here, much like the NRL isn't picking up much more in Melbourne!
Hasn't the A-League always been played in Summer?I disagree with the fact that there was no AFL culture in WS, there have always been Swans fans there just not alot of them.
There are possibly more than GWS fans but I dont see either of them gaining momentum now that the WSW are in town.
I reckon the WSW have done league a favor and they were thoughtful in not trying to take on league in the winter months.
15,000 members, but how many season ticket holders?Storm are heading toward 15,000 members this year. Average crowds are nearly 17,000. Well above last few GWS games and above 6 Sydney NRL clubs which is extremely embarrassing.
Not bad for a place that 'isn't picking up'.

Don't forget that Geelong rested 8 regulars for todays game. Oh I'm loving this. The commentators said on more than one occasion today that this was the best performance the Giants have ever had since they entered the comp.
Final score:
Geelong: 157
Victorians: 98
Well... that explains why they only scored 157Don't forget that Geelong rested 8 regulars for todays game.
They would have put over 200 on them if they had been at full strength.Well... that explains why they only scored 157
Have watched plenty of AFL and I can honestly not remember punches being thrown that were NOT king hits! It's either cheap doggy elbows or stomach punches or the Barry hall king hit. 1 on 1 fight for the ages, never Gna happen.
And another fudged crowd figure from who ever counts the crowds. If you don't believe me then look at the still's on The Fight Club forum. Whats really sad if that some people do believe the crowds posted.Another week, another 50+ point thumping
lol I know. This stubbornness is going to cost their game $250,000,000, and that's money that could go towards the games teams that actually have a future. And another fudged crowd figure from who ever counts the crowds. Some Clubs in Melbourne must be pulling their hair out in frustration at the amount of help the ants get compared to them.
Lets hope that 5 chins and his lackies perservere with the ants and empty the fumbleball cofferslol I know. This stubbornness is going to cost their game $250,000,000, and that's money that could go towards the games teams that actually have a future.
I love the orange empty seats twitter

They are keen to prove to everyone that this is an investment. They are blind and cannot see this any nothing more than a bottomless pitt going nowhere. They want to invest in the league heartland... that's the straw that broke the camels back - they have no idea what they're in for. This is going to cost them $250,000,000, a lesson they'll have to learn the hard way. Imagine what wonder that money could've done for their game instead of spending 25% of their TV rights deal on nothing. Oh well... good news for us :lol:Lets hope that 5 chins and his lackies perservere with the ants and empty the fumbleball coffers
