Hagan To Parra?

With Parramatta there is always that expectation of when the next premiership will come. When you think about it, do we really need a coach with that pressure combined with the added pressure of winning their own maiden premiership? This would be the situation with Anderson, JT, Flanagan and the like.

With Hagan (who has been there and done that, both as a player and a coach) there will not be that added pressure of fullfilling initial personal achievements.

That is why on seconds thoughts I think it is a good choice.

**Don't forget the last coach we appointed who had already won premierships was the great Jack Gibson.

does anyone get the feeling that maybe they're after an established coach given that Fitzy has dismissed the idea of having Brian as a coach's co-ordinator on the BSB this morning?

also very expensive to have two people on salary, when you really only need one

Given we couldnt afford to keep crusher on as recruitment officer because of the pokie tax, I dont see how we can afford to have a coaching co-ordinator.

Crusher was expensive for other reasons.

Big rumour on Newcastle radio today that Hagan is to take over the reins of Parra in 2007. Dennis Fitzgerald's comment was ""no comment"". Could be on the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Newcastle's problem was the coach??

??? You tell me! Do you give credit where credit is due or only when it supports your stance on an issue

cough** premiership 01 cough**

It just seems a touch hypocritical to me, to call Hagan responsible for the 2001 win but claim circumstances can alleviate that responsibility in a poor year like 2005. Either the buck stops here or it doesn't.

Of course he played his role in their title victory & deserves credit for a great 1st half by his players. He also could not get the Queenslanders up in the Origin & had one of the worst starts to a year by anyone, ever, in any era, in any code.

Hagan is a fair coach. Good even. But not because he has a title. These things are a team effort & some terrible coaches in days gone by have claimed titles. Just like plenty of great coaches in days gone by have wooden spoons.

I really hope we get Chris Anderson, I couldn't give a f**k what happenend at Cronulla, That club will never have a winning culture, If we got Anderson, We would be NRL champs within 2 years, And you can take that to the bank.

I think there is more chance of me being the coach.

The maths disagree. Anderson = Trouble + He can't coach for buggery!

2 premierships would tell you that he can and have you actually been under him.

everyone knows that you need that element of luck on and off the field to atleast stake a clain for the title, it wasn't Hagon's fault that newcastle hardly spent a cent on even partially making it a proffesional outfit having the worst injury toll to coinside that, also didn't help his cause, there's only so much you can do as a coach under those circumstances.

Again with the premierships thing. There is more to a good coach than silverware.

Of course I haven't been under him have you? Do you know something I don't.

I know he is lost without Kimmorley & while his 96 win was well coached, his late Melboune, Cronulla & Kangaroos showings suggest he has lost touch with the modern game!

My only problem with him has been the circumstances under which he has left clubs and the turmoil that created for a time. Personally I'm not sure a premiership is worth the crap that goes with it......

M Hagan without Johns

C Anderson without Kimmorley (not that I rate Kimmorley)

R Stuart without Fittler

W Bennett without Lockyer + before that Langer.

Brian Smith without........................................ Hang on here. Don't tell me our incumbant is the only supercoach unreliant on one player to get is percentages up! But he doesn't have a premiership. That can't be right!

Chris Anderson is a shocking choice

People think Smithy has favourites - well Chris comes from the Canterbury "jobs for the boys" school

He's had bitch fights with 2 clubs now because they didn't want his frickin' sons on the playing roster

If Chris Anderson comes near our club I will burn it down
