Mate, Smithy hasn't exactly left clubs he was at on wonderful terms either, same with Gould.

Few coaches leave happily from clubs without some sort of carry on. Andersons have been well documented...... and expensive.

offcourse I don't, why would I???..but then again I'm not the one saying he's a sh*thouse coach.

I'll trust the decision our board will make.

Fair call. I'm pointing toward his results over the last 5 years. Not the 2 premierships he has won.

First we need a coach who can get us there there. No point knowing how to win one but sitting 12th, 13th last round of the comp. Like I said he's lost touch with the modern game. I'll be very disapointed if the club opts for Anderson.

I'd like to trust the decision our board makes but if it went that way it be a hard pill to swallow. If they went the way of Anderson they'd be wrong!

:-k What are you refering to?

Smithy walked out on his contract at st George at a time when the club was in danger of folding, he used the famous quote which didn't sit well with the fans when he said and I quote "This place smells like Newtown" or words to that effect.

Gould left both Penrith and Canterbury in controversial circumstances and has been seen as an infidel by their club supporters ever since, even though he's steered to a premiership each.for crying out loud even Sheens left Nth Queensland in a stress related state!

coaching is a merry-go-round and sometimes your horsey bucks u off ... every coach has some sort of trouble these days - cos people demand winning and won't settle for anything less

Smith at the Dragons was treated even worse than here in the regard of not comming up with a title. I think the Smith then & the Smith now are only different in how they cop the treatment from Media & supporter & baggings, & that our club has actually supported him. I'd be bitter too. He did a good job not to fire back at a few people last year!

Wasn't Gould a casualty of the family & nepotism at the Bulldogs. I remember reading somthing of Warren Ryans before it all went down that they were always intending on Anderson/Folkes taking the reigns. Fair call on Penrith though. That was all ego

Fair enough. Sheens is despised up here but as an outsider looking in it looks like the clubs arrogance didn't allow for him to change the place the way he wanted. I don't know why they were arrogant though they were sh*thouse early on! They blame him in part for their early poor form but when your up here you get to read between the lines a bit. He was trying to run a (then) hick club proffessionally.

ok, so we agree that wasn't a plain sailing departure for any of them?

Would you agree however that Anderson's troubles with management have been far more disruptive to both Melbourne and Cronulla?

do you know the full story at what actually occoured?

Mate, we're talking about Cronulla here, a club that even the great Jack Gibson with the players he had, couldn't get them a premiership.

Forget the story behind it. The results are the telling factor in whether he would be a good option for us. The results say no! I say no!

In your opinion.

I'm not here to convince anyone who's good for our club or who's not, but I'm also not a big fan of character assasanating coach's or ex coach's when we don't know what actually went down during their departure of their respective clubs.

We don't know a lot but the media coverage of both events weren't exactly helpful to him. I know the media isn't the best guage on things but there is other stuff I have been told that I won't share here either.....

Actually think about it this way:

Hagan coached the world's best halfback and Tim Smith's idol Andrew Johns.

Hagan comes to Parramatta, and brings his knowledge of the world's best with him.

Hagain improves Smith's abilities by a long margin.

I personally don't like Hagan - he seems to me like a whiny and neurotic little man, with little success at the top level.

But it could work out because of that one area...

Again... I'm not talking charecter or stories. I'm talking results.

You say that like Hagan taught him everything he knows. Joey was being called the best in the world by many before Warren Ryan was even coach there. Let alone Hagan!

I'm sure Hagan would have something to teach Timmy but Hagan did not make Joey!

I was just trying to find some positives out of Hagan coming to the Eels. Because really, I can't see our club ebing any better off if he comes.

The only thing I could see happening is him passing on some experience and advice on what Joey used to do to make Tim a better player.

Having said that, I believe Tim Smith is the next Queensland and Australian great...

hold on! didn't you pull me up about results??

If by results you mean titles then yes I did, but when I say results I don't mean a really good one every now & then. I'm talking team & player development & consistancy. So no I didn't pull you up on results. I pulled you up on titles. I think we have a differing opinion on what we see as success.

Isn't he coaching union in France or something at the moment. How's that going for him?

I guess we can go around circles all day but what he achieved at Melbourne with a bits and pieces side was imo was unbelievable.

his apparently back in the country looking for a gig.

Bits & peices side???????

Lazzo, Kearns, Howe, Nikau, Ross, Kimmorley, Geyer, Bai

Bawden, & Marquet were solid too

He had a pretty fair team to work with in my opinion. That said, they also won two finals leading in under controversial circumstances so a bit of luck was involved as well!

it wasn't a great side imo, they won on the back of their forward pack that was on their last legs [sorry for the fraudien slip Taweara , post: -) "] they also won the comp without Kearns and Hill.

it was a side made up of Hunter mariners rejects with a couple of veterens.
