I strongly disagree. I didn't see any charge downs or kicking out on the full on Friday night from Finch. I saw him take the line on with ball in hand a few times and once he sucked in 3 defenders and put the ball on hindy's tit moments before half time. Hindy bombed it.

He is organising the forwards.

He is offereing 5th tackle options including running the ball and I he was getting the ball into space to Hayne and Reddy.

The only part of your post I agree with is the kicking game. But as Stagger said if you want a player who does all of the above and be a top kicking game for less than $400K a season????????

Also if we had an actual 5/8 our kicking options would be better.

There was plenty of rubish dished up on Frday BUT I ask you:

How many times did Finch drop the ball?
How many times did Finch give a way a penalty?
How many tries did his oppossing number put on Fich?

These are the things that cost us victory on Friday night.

I've never been a Finch Fan. I've always like Hindy, Cayless, Wagon Robbo and Grothe because they have the longest history with the club. But based on what has happened this year I would have Finch in the Team over any of these guys. Because if it wasn't for Finch (after Tim Smith leaving) we would be coming last.

Finally - Finch is also 10 better in the press conferences after a loss.

i'll play the devil's advocate and same the Hindy missed try - finch's fault - he threw the pass too f'n hard at a guy running 1m shoulder

but i don't blame either of them - finch was under pressure, being tackled, hindy was running hard ... just one of those things

Finch lacks a lot to be disired in finishing of sets of 6. He lacks the master touch Smith had. A way to describe it is like painting your walls at home and not applying that final gloss. A job finished but not well done. Kris Keating would be a better option IMO.

Fully agree. Finch would be ok at Hooker OFF THE BENCH FOR MATT KEATING.

Not another ****ing half-back thread :lol: with the usual comments.

Haven't people come to realise the situation we are in this season? Our first choice halfback throws the game away (well, at least until his English paycheck next season) after returning from injury to first grade, leaving us shorter than planned in that department for the rest of the season.

The guys we have left are doing their best, mostly out of position - an argument that has been used to excuse poor play this season from other party boy "stars" - and the fact that we are and will be worse off because of the gap left by not having our first choice half available is an obvious no brainer.

Just like the spectre of Jamie hung over the remainder of our 2004 season, the spectre of Tim looks like it will hang over this season, until we get a chance at his money so we can replace the guy? Unless of course we all just choose to get over it and accept that (unlike some of our other players) Finch and Mateo are playing to their abilities ;-).

You don't get to be one of the youngest to reach 200 NRL games..if you don't have the ability, mental or physical toughness to match.

Don't have a huge problem with Finch if Feleti continues to play the way he did last week. I just wish Finch would stop throwing those no-look passes; he threw another one last week which went to ground after the effort that found Pearce's chest against the Roosters. It appears that he commits himself to the play no matter, which is not the sign of a confident halfback.
