Halves Combinations

If anyone can easily pull up some stats over the last 2 season on wins/losses when we have both Head and Barrett playing together that would be very interesting.

I cant see it being a very happy stat....

I know the Shanks have something like 4 wins from 20 with both Scummorley and Dykes in the halves and while I cant see us being that bad, I dont think ours would be too much better. When Barrett was out, Hornby and Head seem to create more opportunities and our backline seems to be more cohesive.

Not saying Barrett is at fault...... but everyone seems to sit back and wait for him to do things and he hasnt had the confidence to do things.

id say its barretts fault..he has never been an intelligent footballer at all, his flashes of brilliance are fantastic but he doesnt have the brains to steer a team around or lead a backline

Pete, please mate !! To say he has never been an intelligent footballer leads one to believe you are either guilty of substance abuse or you know very little about the identification of a very good footballer.

Not only Head but everyone seems to sit back and wait for Baz to do some magic rather than play their natural game when he is on the field. It's as if they are afraid of him or feel intimidated by him.

Last year when Head was out they won 13 out of their last 16 games abd came eual 1st.

I am not having a go at Head but Hornby and Baz made a far better combination last year so why get rid of Baz. They were blitzing teams last year this time of year and were scoring tries from all over the place not just relying on kicks. And yes, we even had Best playing last year and still won....

That 7 year streak earlier in the year included the Bronco's 18-16 game and Parramatta 8-1 game. Honestly, Do you think the Dragons played well those games. It's not as if they were dominating.

Head and Baz are the two best in their positions and Hornby is the best No.1, that is how it should remain. If Baz and Head can get some momentum going they will be unstoppable.

The halves can't look good if the fowards are playing like powder puffs who give away stupid penalties!

Blame Rylesy.

Times have changed,
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents,
They just want to fart and curse. Should we blame the government, or blame society, or should we blame the images on tv No!
Blame Rylesy! Blame Rylesy!

Bit of oil, warm candles, touch up around the 'lips' with the razor, tight and sensual wrap of cloth around the ears ...sounds like 'some-ones' pre-match warm-up.
How hyper---ventilating ..

lol some evidence to back up how outstandingly intelligent he is???...other than his Dally M year all i can recall is dopey decisions in attack as well other incidents such as a variety of silly penalties, being marched 10m, king hits, push ups in underpants...doesn't seem like the qualities of the most intelligent person in the world if u ask me

an intelligent leader is one who should lead by example eg. price. And if you read my post mate i never said he wasnt a good footballer...i asure u i can identify a very good footballer, i was merely stating his lack of intelligence and motivational qualities to lift his team in a tight game

he appears to get very flustered on the field, making frustrated decisions, yelling at players and officials, when a good leader should forget about what has happened and motivate his team to go on and win the game...how often does Barrett ever give us an inspirational captains performance like a Kennedy or Johns???

i never doubted his ability or skill, just his mental and motivational capacity to inspire a team to victory...

Head looks like he is struggling, and seems frightened. He's trying, but it's only a natural responce to try and avoid pain. His kicks verge on the brilliant, but every other aspect of his play seems to be below standard. I think he's a great footballe when fit; but he's not fit.

My opinion, give Head the rest of the year off to get better. Move Hornby to halfback, and either Greenshields or Morris or whoever to fullback.
If I mind control Nathan Brown this would be my team.

1.Greenshields
2.Naiqama
3.Gasnier
4.Cooper
5.Morris
6.Barrett
7.Hornby
8.Bailey
9.Ndaira
10.Ryles
11.Creagh
12.Payne
13.Young

14.Bickerstaff
15.Wicks
16.Poore
17.Sims (or Isemonger... Sims is the new Kite..i.e Feet for Hands.)

well if what Phil Gould has been saying and he is basically playing on one fit leg then i agree, everyone says we need a proper halfback but last year Barrett and Hornby got us to the semi's. We need Head to be truely fit instead of continually playing him injured. As well as that according to Gould they dont actually know what is causing his knee problems? anyone know if that is true?

Looks like a damn good lineup....probably the way we are going a couple of key changes there might do the trick.

I'm a big Matty Head supporter, think the guy is brilliant and had we had a fully fit Matty Head in last years semis, he could have been the difference. However I have to agree with Gould's comments, he seems to be playing on one leg, and apart from his kicking, really doesn't look the player he was before the long lay-off. I think rest him for atleast a month/the season and maybe he will come back stronger. I also agree our attack looks slow and rudderless, again could be a good move to put Hornby in given Matty's struggle with fitness.

Bring back Wes to kick the goals....and tighten up our defence.

And get Young out of dummy half and into a position where he is strongest, probably lock is the way to go, help give our forwards some bite!!

Have to say, the forwards have been soft as well, which hasn't helped the halves.

Those few changes however, could be just enough to spark us back into premiership contention, I certainly believe that if we can get on a role, even from say 5 or 6, we are one of the few teams that can win it from there.
