Halves for the future.

Really their are at least four or five positions in the team that could and should be filled to make the team a real threat. I'm not talking top class players but better than average first graders in a couple of those positions at least.

Signing a player like Sandow, regardless of how talented he may or may not be in other peoples eyes, won't make the team a top four threat.

Our hookers are good enough and McGuire would be one of the better hookers in the NRL. Keating is improving. Definitely don't need a hooker if McGuire stays. We have two wide running back rowers in Laslaso and Horo, but the problem we have is we don't have a half back that can consistently put them in holes.

We don't really need a ball playing forward, it would be nice but we could go without. In saying that Billy Rogers in time may fill that void.

I said we need a classy back and Kearney is looking for one by trying to sign Junior and Duffie.

The main thing we need is a half back

OK, we don't have one now, but that shouldn't stop us from being super agressive, (and as I said last night - the promises made by 3P re having sponsors come on board) and offering great 3rd party deals hasn't materialised. We haven't even seen that greatly promised sponsor come on board yet. :roll:
I'd throw the books at the only talented half off contract next year.

I agree on the sponsor thing. 3P certainly haven't delivered on that when they promised they would. It's quite unsatisfactory really. After promising the world they've delivered little and kept us in the dark. Anyone who voted for them (I would have if i'd voting rights) should have the right to an explanation.

But as said there's not that many halfs available for next year. I think there's Sandow, Seymour, and a couple of others. We should sign one yes. The club tried last year. I get the impression there was too much conflict between the coach and board and CEO all trying to run the show that it made it difficult to nab one last year. You can only blame Paul Osborne for that... the buck stops with him and if he limited DA doing his job as head coach then he should be the fall guy really.

I already mentioned Cooper, and I would be less than flabbergasted if the Broncos got him.

The sooner there's a second team in Brisbane the better.

I would throw around $200 000+ on Harry Seijka and get rid of Robson. Then have Mortimer, Murray and Seijka fight it out on the halves pairing. That to me seems like the best possible option right now. Two genuine ball players and a great support player. Really if anyone else can come up with a better option, I have still to hear it.

Oh can someone who knows give us an update on how Karl Filinga is going pleese. Has he been playing and if so is he showing any improvement? Cheers.

Agreed.
There is no chance we will sign a top half.
Our only chance of getting a quality half is to develop or find a gem.
IMO we should throw money towards Seijka and maybe Hunt.
If we cant develop a half from Murray, Seijka and Hunt; then we should start looking at our coaching staff (and i dont mean mooks directly but the trainers that develop these players).
