I thought our edge defence is a little sus but tonight IMO they defended well. Outside of the first try you can put any of the other tries down to bad defence, the second try was pure luck after the ball came off our players pressuring JTs kicking and Thompson luckily running on to it. the thrid try they spread the ball wide deep in their own half and they found us short on the edges which is common amoung every team as they compress and try to keep teams in their half and their last try was Tonga beating Shak one on one, a poor miss by shak but the numbers were there and 9/10 times that stuff should be stopped.

Agree that our edge defence was shakey at times, but gee their 7, 6, 9, 13 & 14 had great passing games and did a great job shifting the ball.

Our 1, 6, 7, 9 had similar nights ith the ball.... maybe didn't throw it around as much as the Cowboys but they toughed it out.

They were more potent shifting the ball because they have fast powerful outsdide backs. That's the area we really lack class.

But our hookers outplayed them; hayne produced more points than Bowen; and morts and orford weren't as dangerous as jt but stood up when needed.

Keating had a huge game. Found his running game from the outset and played a huge part on getting the forwards over the advantage line.....

Yes his quick 10/15m gains and flat passes had a touch of Cam Smith about it. Mooks and Arthur obvioulsy have been working with him.

By running early he took the defence by surprise and took the predictability away from his game so they had to watch whether he would run or pass. Gave the forwards a big help to make the metres.....

I agree and its something Keating has had in his game for a while just very under used. Keating also kicked well later in the match which is another part of his game under used.

I said at the beginning of the season that Keating has it in him to perform and he doesn't lack the skills rather the brains. If he continues to read the game well and trust his instincts to run then everything will follow and MaGuire may need to shift to 7 to accomidate. MK could quiet easily play 80min, he is fit and a very good defender. TBH I thought we lost our way a bit when Mitchell came on, while he was good and nippy the forwards wont able to hit the advantage line as well (not having a go at the kid, more a complement for MK).

Kearney has made two very good decisons already and he's only been here for a few months, first one is telling Tahu to hit the bricks and secondly saying no to Orford.
Both are champions of the Melbourne Storm club if you look them up. Storm fans mite say thats a little rich Kearney..... both grate skippers but Orford did have the points on him:D tahu walked on two codes played with 3 teams in the NRL. I think he walked on them too! This talk about Duffie!!! You grub! the storm made You fool.;-)

You are kidding? Mitchell looked great and added the spark we need off the bench! We looked very dangerous with him on the field!

I thought we looked more like scoring points with Mitchell on the field.

You missed the game last night perhaps?
Na I watched but who makes way for McGuire ? I know Mitchell only got limited time and Robson went ok but what would you do ? I reckon Mitchello offers more then Robson and Mcguire would fit nicely at half.

Mitchell had a good game. Unfortunate for him that McGuire will slot straight back in..... where he does will be interesting as of last night Keating made a huge case to be retained as starter. Robson, Mortimer and Hayne worked well again tonite so it will unlikely that it will be the halves.

Colonel, as you know I don't rate Robson as a true 7.

Just think abiout this, even with a nuffie like Sandow at half, it is likely we would be undefeated, he just doesn't have it and I believe McGuire to 7 and aKeating/Mitchell combo is a much better look.

I would move Maguire to 6. I reckon he would go well there.

Agree 100%. Matt Keating had his best game in 2 years. I was very impressed by him. Mitchell is fantastic off the bench. Mortimer is improving but Robson has stayed the same.

I'm aware it couldbe better however at this stage of the year given McGuire has yet to complete one full game uninjured it would be a foolhrdy call to expect him to play more than 50. The halfback should be on the field the full eighty.......

Even with a nuffie like Sandow at half he would still have to aim up behind a forward pack and a dummy half in the previous two games to last night that simply offered little. It may have been a different story but I doubt it.

I don't think the club can exist as a top four threat by continuing to use Robson in the half role but until we have a true standout option he is the best of what we have.

I think Macguire is great for us but nit in the halves. In the trials he did nothing there.

Unfortunately we are stuck with our sh*t halves.
