It was having trouble getting through that classifications due to sexual content. Actually gotten an R rating twice up until now. Should be good, i like will smith, good popcorn actor. This should be unique
Watched this tonight. Good movie wrecked by rubbish cinematography. Someone should tell the makers of Hancock that close-ups tend to lose their dramatic effect when they make up three-quarters of the movie shots. And if you go to the cinemas to watch this like I did, make sure you sit way way up the back of the theatre. Any closer and that shaky hand-held camera crap will have you seasick and vomiting into your box of popcorn. The little YouTube segments in the movie look professionally shot in comparison to the rest of the movie! Arrggh frustrating.
Does anyone else think Will Smith should have just stuck to TV. So many of his movies seem to have potential but I watch it and then find myself thinking well, I wish the lead actor was somebody else.
And i agree. I think he's a great actor, capable of carrying a movie on his own back.
Just came back from seeing Hancock and i left thinking that he was the only shining light. And had almost anyone else played the lead character it would have been a complete disaster.
As for the movie, i thought it became abit of a mess midway through. The story became abit of a bumbling mess and the direction was annoying at times.
It was only Smith's charisma and humour that kept it afloat and made it watchable IMO.
It was like they had an amazing premise, but didn't have enough to fill the whole movie - so they tacked on a second, less amazing storyline to make sure it ran long.
* brilliant opening
* entertaining, well-acted performance from Will Smith.
* annoying main supporting character.
* promising ideas for a movie.
* pathetic or corny ending.
Sums up the career of Will Smith. Geez, I wish he chose better.
Also saw it last night, probably in same same cinema as cc_eagle and thought meh. I really liked it then it got to the middle and a few things bugged me and I didn't like the ending. Ugh. Still over all it was alright
