This has the makings of a classic LU thread - Tigers fans still hating on a former player who's doing far better at another club, idiot Blues fans trying to decry QLD's loyalty for not selecting a player who went to ESL, and Kiwis blowing up about Origin selections - all based on speculation from journalists looking to fill space on their page.

I'm heating the pan for the popcorn as we speak.

Disgraceful selection! If he gets selected he will be the first player who moved to Australia for rugby league purposes and play for an Australian state! He has played for NZ under 16's, junior kiwis, NZ train on squad and has played a test for Samoa which should lock him in for them! And this is all aside from the fact that he isn't good enough anyway!

bullsh!t. he's eligible, why shouldn't he get selected? Good on him I say, at least he's demonstrated desire, and no little commitment by his actions. Who's to say he can't be a passionate Qlder?

he declared eligibility a few years ago and has had to wait a few years to get a shot. this isnt like mateo or kasiano who want to be picked in the team first then before confirming their eligibility

I dont think his form has been as good as it was a few years ago but he can put on some big hits and he'll run the ball hard at anyone. I think he'll be brought into the squad with an eye to axing taylor. If taylor goes well at training then perhaps he'll retain his place but if taylor plods along he'll get dropped

Demonstrated desire by singing TWO other national anthems in his rugby league career? That's commitment! He is nothing but a glory hunter who shows zero commitment or passion to a state or country. He moved to Australia on a rugby league contract, he didn't emigrate here. This is a different situation to other players not born in aus!

Is Hutch a Kiwi? I'm not sure he is.

In any event, Te'o

As much as Harrison may be a little ho-hum, the stable balance of this QLD team over the last few years has been somewhat compromised. If NSW are up for it, they could win this. Even in Brisbane.

one of gillett or taylor will be dropped for teo..i'm guessing not many people who have posted on this have seen teo play for the broncos. He's the perfect fit for that right edge. Just needs to make sure he doesnt run up out of the line like he did on the weekend. Great runner of the ball, good speed, good defender. Why wouldn't you pick him of DJ? DJ is great but it's either him or Parker, and Parker is better at the moment

Teo is a superb player when in the red zone.

He is not a guy I would want when it is all on the line in defence as he is likely to go for the big play and leave the line disjointed

Johnson left to play Super League (forget the club). He wasn't there the last 3 years, Harrison was. I would not complain if Johnson was picked, won't let QLD down, I just feel a more attacking lock is needed.

Johnson went to the ESL for a single season in 2010.

How does that warrant him missing out on the 2011 and now the entire 2012 series?

He's been back for 2 series now and still hasn't been picked again

Your post only asked the question "Why was he punted?" as if it was like some massive act of disloyalty.

It's been explained to you several times that he wasn't selected because he went to ESL. Clearly the selectors think he hasn't done enough with the Cowboys to break back into the team. But do go on about the lack of loyalty from QLD....

Wasn't he 18th man for a game in 2010?

you may be correct, but he hasnt been picked in the team and then made up his mind allegiance-wise. I remember a few years ago there was talk about mateo being nsw 5/8 but he wouldnt commit to nsw unless he was guaranteed a place in the team cos he wanted to be eligible for tonga (?) in case he wasnt sleected. same with what kasiano's doing now (though tbh i dont think the'd bring another prop into the squad)
