The only thing I don't like is that it would likely make conservative coaches even more conservative in terms of 'completions'. Maybe they could just fade it in as a reward for a strip or forced fumble in a 1 man tackle.
Quite frankly I don't see how some NRL coaches could be any more conservative than they already are, short of five dummy half runs instead of five one out plays. If they got any more conservative they'd start running backwards away from the defence for fear of being tackled at all.
And it doesn't seem to be a problem in SL where the style of play doesn't seem to have changed. There's a few coaches there who are more conservative than others but that was already the case. At the end of the day you can't prevent dropped balls. Look at the Cowboys the other night. This way, we at least get to see one play where anything can happen. It would produce some freakish tries and near tries.
The NRL are mad not to do it. Or maybe just incompetent and too busy looking at shit ideas in VFL or NFL that will never work in RL to look at something that already works in RL.
