I agree with you Old Timer.....there really is no alternative unless they just roll on with the same peanut in charge.
At least Walters has ideas and tactics to entertain us fans with some form of attack. They would probably still surround him with the old boys brigade in a Young and Hornby as assistants. Hopefully Mary goes onto a JetSki painting business and we don't have to mention him again.

As much as I do not want another rookie coach, if it were to be anyone, it would have to be out of Demetriou, Walters and Brennan. All have served lengthy apprenticeships under good coaches which is better than what our local coaching products have.

Walters in particular would give us good access to some of the young Maroon's coming through being involved in the current SOO and emerging Maroon's mentor. Has served a long apprenticeship.

Brennan has been involved in the Panthers system for a long period as well and has helped develop some of their talent and has been successful in the lower grades.

Demetriou is self explanatory.

Qld'ers are a totally different breed though but I tend to agree with you as the players manager ultimately do the $$$$ push and they have no allegiance to anyone or anything but $$$$.

It's not like Sheens gave the Tigpies insane access to youngster in the AUS squad.

Access might be the wrong word. He would have been in a position that would have been going through and identifying young talent for the Maroon's and may have been in contact with some of the said younger playing talent. His networking between club level and rep level would be superior to the other 2 suggested rookies.

But I stress, I don't particularly want another rookie. It seems inevitable with our management however.

So getting an available person that has runs on the board shouldn't be given the job, but I guess with the morons who are running this club you would be correct, sometimes when your love a club to death you almost create the death of it, maybe that is the problems with current admin, Saints need to do a Parra job and recruit professional business people that have the ability to run it like a proper company.
Would our current administration get positions in any blue chip publicly listed company?

Indeed. The boys club mentality needs to be removed and replaced, but alas, the structure of the board and election process leaves us common fans with no say or options.

I really cant see Millward and his team executing all this retention strategy only to hand it over to McGregor - absolutely no chance!! Regarding if Hunt signed on knowing who the coach was is just hog wash - no way has the club signed a new coach yet - maybe they have sounded out a couple but not signed....

The way Millward and his team are going about the retention and recruitment plan he was adamant they were looking for a coach who could DEVELOP and IMPROVE the players that will be handed to them..

IMO that coach IS NOT McGregor - no way Millward would entrust McGregor with the keys to the car not for another 3 barron years - he has proven he cannot bring players along let alone improve them..

In a little confused as only 4 weeks ago it was discussed in some very reliable circles that Hasler was only a breath away from agreeing to Dragons w a coach from Qld close by - I immediately thought Walters but now thinking about it Demetrio might have been the one they were talking about....

All talk in an effort to highlight his own importance. Millward just does not hire coaches. At the moment he manages the empire he has created but this will end once a real coach is appointed.

Millward is there because of his ambitions and Mary's failings.

Who was that English coach who came out here a few years back and stated he would like to coach in NRL - he was coaching the English rugby league side at the time? No nonsense type of guy had an air of authority about him, can't recall his name???
