Have the Tigers convinced Moltzen to stay? Release sought from his Saints contract

Anyone who thinks either of the two clubs are at fault in this situation are kidding themselves.
The Dragons would have been informed by Moltzen's manager after signing the contract thatthe Tigers had agreed to a release obviously.
The Tigers probably knew nothing about what had happened until it happened.
Frankly, Moltzen is the one who comes off as a scummy waste of flesh. If he signed the contract, why should he be allowed to cry about it to try and get out of it?
His manager is scum as well for letting Moltzen sign the contract without notifying the Tigers.
This is embarrassing and frankly Moltzen is the one who should suffer for being an arrogant sook.

They then renege on their word because on of their scumbag players could not keep his fists to himself when he got home one night. One club has acted in good faith & honoured their word throughout this whole sorry sad saga the other has not.

Clubs move the goalposts to suit themselves all the time.

Just like the Dragons did with Le Gaz and his back ended contract which he conveniently didn't hang around for.

Moltzen won't sit out the season, where were the quotes from Moltzen in that article? Nothing to see there.

Exactly.

After all this, it seems unlikely that Saints would want him. However, no way should they let the Tigers keep him. It will be a game of chicken here. Saints won't want to back down and Moltzen and his manager will stand strong as long as they can, hoping that Saints won't want a player on their books who doesn't want to be there.

I think Saints should stand firm and force him to decide whether he wants to sit out the season.

Have you forgotten to take your methadone this morning.

The club signed Gaz to a 4 year deal and back ended it so we could afford him over that period (With the NRL's blessing). Gaz then decides he wants to retire. No issue.

The club didn't move any goalposts.

If you can't discuss facts, stick to playing with wooden spoons.

Gaz wanted to come back to the Saints for a year or two, Dragons tried to get out of it cheap, NRL said no, so they put forward a back ended deal which the NRL agreed to. A year later and Gaz announces his retirement.
Those are the facts. It was a smart move and good on them for that. You are not naive enough to believe, after his retirement, that he intended to stay for the 4 years?

In otherwords.... Player gets offered a contract, player accepts contract, gets paid agreed value, then retires?

If a player agrees on a value, what the hell is the problem? There is nothing to suggest any of it was pre-arranged anyway but if a player wants to play for a certain club at $50k even if his market value is $100k, does that mean the club is cheating the cap? Pretty sure almost every club has at least one player playing for less than their market value.

What I'm trying to say is that it seems like Moltzen's manager didn't tell the Tigers what was going on, if they did know and did a back-flip then yes people trying to blame the Dragons are kidding themselves. I guess we just don't know what the truth is.

Fact
The tigers management/board gave Moltzen's manager a verbal assurance he would be granted a release if he found another club.
Moltzen signed a 3 year contract with St. George Illawarra.
The Tigers changed their mind about the release they had granted after Lui got himself in the shote again.
St.George Illawarra expected him to fulfil his contract.
The Tigers board reneged on their word.

Fact
Gasnier signed a NRL sanctioned 4 year contract which was back ended.
Gasnier decided to retire at a later date.

I'd love to see this "Gaz wanted to come back for a year or two" backed up with something other than your word. It is not the case. he always sated that he intended to play another 4 years, again I'd love to see a link proving otherwise.

Comparing the Moltzen & Gasnier scenario is ludicrous. If you honestly believe what you typed then get the tinfoil hat on and return to area 54.

I take it you used the same standard of proof with the Scott Prince & sponsor agreeing to build a house debacle?

Even if no name's consipracy theory is true, the NRL should have no say in the value of contracts anyway, it's ridiculous. If Gaz wants to play for the minimum wage + the value of some chin reduction surgery he should be allowed to.

I still don't know why Dragon fans blame the Tigers. Even if they did release him, whats to say that Moltzen still wouldn't attempt to void the contract?

I'm just pointing out the fact that clubs use technicalities to their advantage.
Gaz was never coming back for 4 years, he stated as such when he retired. (always planned on retiring before 30)

Tigers never officially signed off on the release so they are trying to use that in their favour.

Void it and then play Where?

Released by the Tigers, released by the Dragons, who else would want him?

If I was a Dragons supporter I would be willing the Tigers to keep the nuffy!

Given most players struggle to have one club interested , a bloke with two after him is in a good position. He could struggle though due to other clubs having full rosters

Provide a quote where he said that. He said when he was younger he wanted to retire by 30, but signed the contract believing he'd see it out.

Tigers never officially signed off on the release so they are trying to use that in their favour.

Astute analysis skills there.... It's only taken you a month to get there.

No fact. If you want to claim as 'fact' what you read martin tauber claim, you just look foolish.

Moltzen signed a 3 year contract with St. George Illawarra.

No fact. No release was ever granted.
St.George Illawarra expected him to fulfil his contract.
Take him.

Please!
