Have the Tigers convinced Moltzen to stay? Release sought from his Saints contract

After reading the WT media release, it reaks of trying to shut it down now. Saints' media release on the other hand suggests that the matter isn't over.

That's what happens when someone doesn't honour an agreement. The side that reneges on a deal wants to shut down discussion, while the side that has been ripped off wants compensation prior to any closure.

The Tigers will offer the Dragons a presentation on how to accept that a club has Merged and the new team is a new entity with no history and has only been in existance since 1999.

BM, that makes no sense whatsover. Stick to the topic if you can. Cheers.

Don't know why the story of the shoulder injury had to be mentioned. If you were going to be out for possibly half a year, wouldn't it be best to get any surgery started as soon as the off-season starts?

Thats what Mo;tzen and Humphries ahve told them. Saints have made it public so that if it turns out to be bullshit, which I suspect is a strong possibility, then they end up looking even worse.

Swings and roundabouts. Shit happens. Whatever. Its done now. He's a Tiger.

If there was no saga with Rob Lui we wouldn't be talking about this issue because he'd be with the Dragons. The public aren't idiots, the kid Moltzen changed his mind when he and the Tigers saw both a need and an opportunity to remain with his friends and at the club he is familiar with.

Saints deserve compensation from this as it was obvious from the comments of both Marshall and Sheens at the time of the Saints announcement that Moltzen's recruitment was a done deal and that he was inclined to go there. Now Saints plans regarding the kid have been kyboshed in an bitter situation. we hope will be prevented in the future.

I don't want to see a situation where people sit out seasons or young blokes are playing for any club but don't really want to be there. The League will need to fix this situation. It is a poor look for fans and sponsors.

Mate, away from the emotion surrounding it all, thats basically the truth of the matter.

Humphreys has denied that Moltzen needs surgery. So either Doust is lying and made the whole story up, or Tim has told a story of a possible outcome, but he might have conveyed that to Doust as what was going to happen.

For mine, the Tigers and the manager have come out of this looking pretty poor. Hunphreys will reap what he sews by doing business this way. It reminds me of a big corporate. No one like big corporates.

Moltzen has come across, to me, as lacking pride and a self pitying weakling, which I personally despise. Your word is all you've got. At least I believe it is. Thats what being a man is all about.

Saints have come out with egg on their faces and I'm certain that that no club will be dealing with Tauber and the Tigers in good faith in future.

The Tigers got to keep their man, but at what cost.

Saints get the moral high ground and the moral support of the NRL and , I'm sure, every other club. They've come out of it with their dignity.

The Tigers. Lets see how they fare in future when they deal like this. Gibbs, Fifita, Moltzen.

I believe Saits have grounds to sue Tauber and Moltzen for damages. The Tigers don't have a case to answer.

Looks like that scumbag Humphreys and his detestable club have got their way.

What an absolutely disgusting, underhanded way they operate. I hope they crash and burn, and I hope the Dragons take them to court and sue them for all they're worth.

What makes it all the more galling is that the slug Humphreys doesn't even think the Tigers did anything wrong!

Tigers chief executive, Stephen Humphreys, said he was surprised by the legal threat but confident the club had acted properly. ''The suggestion that they may take some legal action … takes us very much by surprise, and we are confident that we have followed the rules and not done anything untoward,'' he said. ''Should there be any legal claim on us, we would defend that vigorously.''

I don't support Saints or the Tigers, so here is an outsiders view..

The Dragons stuffed it up. They knew that while Moltzen was given verbal permission to speak to other clubs, they should have asked his manager for a WRITTEN RELEASE from the Tigers as per the NRL guidelines before giving him any contract. They knew they stuffed up, the NRL would rule in the Tigers favour, so they have quickly raised the white flag.

Should makes the games a bit more spiteful now, which is good. One thing to be sure of though is that Moltzen and Creagh won't be involved in the spite, not while their legs work anyway......

Quickly on the shoulder injury. Maybe I am reading it wrong but there was no mention of surgery was there?

Isn't it quite plausible that the player has been carrying this injury and constant rehab work is the only way to solve this problem? If this were the case it would be no problem were the player to continue within the system of his existing club as there is more leeway for limited session time etc which would not be afforded to the player at a new club as there is an entire system which to learn and active participation in as many sessions as possible is the only way to be of benefit to the new player and structure?

In the end it is another loophole that must be sorted out by the games administration so that the door to these kind of events can be closed from ever reoccurring.

On the issue of suing the club I doubt Doust has any intention to do so. The Wests Tigers made a offer of compensation which the Dragons were not ready to accept at this time which casts Peter's comments under a light that they wish a higher level of compensation than proposed.

Mere postulating and jostling to get a better result for his club. Hopefully he s a smart enough CEO to move quickly because he has a limited window in which to act when you consider media interest will shortly disappear once three of the four main players stop answering questions on it.

Anyway it's unfortunate that as a WT fan I have to watch Timid Tim run around in club colours in 2012 (extension to 2014 being talked about in some circles) but I watched Fitzy for years so I am sure I can adjust

Dragons can't sue the tigpies cos their argument is there was no formal (legal) release. They could however sue moltzen/manager for signing the contract as there was a legal agreement between them (unless they didnt get a signature ona contract either).

Yeah. Thats it. The TIgers haven't got a case to answer.

Tauber and Moltzen do. It would centre around their probity in negotiating a contract and the subsequent current outcome disadvantaging the Dragons business by way of misleading conduct.

They could be up for a bit of ride here.
