Despite every indication that he will return to the Eels I actually don't think he will now. I just get a feeling he is the type of person who doesn't look back.
It would be a huge backflip were he to come back to rugby league, after being on record as saying he had achieved everything there was to achieve in the code, and had no passion for playing it any more.

He lost alot of credibility walking our on his Gridiron Dream while he was just on the cusp of making it and turning it into something. The Fiji rugby 7s dreamwas a debacle and may have cost his a domestic union contract. Will be interested to see how he and his manager spin the media if they accept a league offer - either with us ( lifetime agreement - sigh) or with someone else.

Yeah. I don't think he is coming back either.

Great player in his day. Privileged to have seen some of the freakish stuff he did on the field but it is time for us all to move on.

I'd support the club if they wanted him back but I have cooled on him and I think Arthur has too.
You make a good point Av. I can't imagine Arthur would have been impressed with the lack of notice Hayne gave for his early walkout on the club, and Arthur's statements re Hayne returning have been very luke warm imo.

On the money we'd need to pay him, we should be expecting Joey like quality from this amazing "star"
This is bang on.

If we are going to fork out heaps of money, then he will have to play where we need him to (which will be the halves) and he'll have to have top tier performances in that role, otherwise we are wasting our money and we should have just bought a real half for probably less money.

And having him at Fullback would also be wasting money, mostly because he'll want too much for a fullback (regardless of worth, we're talking cap management now) and we already have options for a fullback next year.

I would actually like to see BA come out and say "we're not willing to pay more than $500K for Jarryd.

As much as I'd like to have him back, I 100% agree here. If he were genuine half or we had no French/Guffo, it'd be a no-brainer, but that ain't the case.
But to be honest, I'd prefer if BA didn't say shit. Not that I think he ever would anyway, but #stoptheleaks

Not worried at all - it all only concerns me as a Parra fan, that we'd be unbalancing our squad again, having just really recovered this season from Jarryd's early wlakout with no notice.

But... the media and his manager tell me that Hayne is a "star" on a "journey"! So I shold disregard Hayne's form in his final two matches with us - with a semi spot on the line - where the lazy/distracted prick phoned it in for 40 mins of each game, instead of playing to his value. And I should disregard his utter failure in the halves on previous attempts, and think that he'll be a good fit for the balance of our squad replacing Foran, lol.

Gee, if a two-time Dally M medallist by age 30, and best NSW player (as well as dominating for Australia at centre) means he's not a true star in your book, then you're a hard marker.

Say what you want about him, but he is definitely a star.

I mean more as a public statement to Jarryd himself, or to the greater league community that we're not pinning all our hopes on him coming back, which seems to be the main consensus at the moment..

There are a lot of people who think we intentionally punted Foran in order to sign Hayne, and all things being equal, if there were no "health etc. issues" we need Foran more than Hayne.

He is absolutely a star, couldn't agree more, but he's not a star in the way we need him to be anymore, at least not in a way that would be workable for us.

Does that make sense?

Probably the best post you have ever made.

It does, but you're not the one continually calling Hayne a "star".

Yes, yes, phantom is fishing, blah, blah, blah - but his personal dislike for Hayne and/or his actions aside, even he needs to admit that he is a star of rugby league; whether or not he's the state we need or want is debatable.

And I disagree that he wouldn't work for us.

He is more like a kardashian these days rather than a sports star?

It wasn't a post bagging Hayne so thats pretty much rooted your theory before it even got off the ground.

Also, given that most people blow their load about Hayne wouldn't you get more likes if you said you thought Hayne was awesome?

We will know when he stops talking about God and starts saying he is a god I guess

Speaking of talking about "God", whoever or whatever that is, this is one reason I hope we don't see him back... I don't think I'll be able to handle having to hear him mention his god and his journey every time he does a presser from the moment he announces he's coming back to every other bloody day that he gets interviewed. I find it cringeworthy being totally frank.

Up to about a day ago, I've been keen on seeing him return... But I've come to the realissation that even if he comes back we are still a couple of other weapons short of being a premiership threat. A proven and effective hooker and prop are still essential IMO. Hayne returning won't change that I don't think. The strongest teams we've had on the park this year (Foran aside) have shown enough to me to suggest that just a couple of astute buys could be all we need to take the next step. Foran, apart from a nice try V the Raiders, I don't think offered a great deal in contributing to the wins the team had when he played. Whether he was playing injured or within himself because of his hamstring or whatever, defensively he was sound yes, but if anything, he contributed to the first loss V the panthers with some poorly taken options late in the game from memory... these were the sorts of poor options he was supposed to be coming to the club to help us eradicate...

Also, I was a quite unimpressed with Norman in his first year with us, but 2015 and 2016 he has been stellar... He seems to have relished the role of playmaker in the absence of Hayne and Foran to a lesser extent. I'd hate to see Norman re-sign with us and then go back in to his shell because Hayne is calling the shots... there'd be people jumping all over him sayng he's dogging it because he got his new deal and won't try again until next contract is up for negotiation....

Really??? I'd say it was pretty even about people wanting him back and not wanting him. I was just fishing hoping to catch a Bart looks like I caught a Gary instead on just a Bart/phantom line. Lucky it didn't break.
