Whilst Hayne may be 'a' common denominator in this story, you have failed to take into account the other common denominator - sensational stories sell newspapers/clicks.

Don't for a minute forget that the media have a clear understanding that the Parramatta Eels are a team that approx. 5% of the total NSW and QLD population consider their team which means articles/stories relating to the Eels have a far greater reach than most other RL teams. Secondly, Hayne would be perhaps one of the most instantly recognised names in Australian sport, especially over the last 4 years and especially in the Rugby League states. Thirdly, Parramatta supporters are passionate to say the least however in a lot of cases that passion is combined with frustration at having no success in 30+ years and a target demographic that believes what they read and hear from mainstream media.

Put these together and there is no doubt in my mind there is an agenda from the media to find/make up/embellish sensationalised stories related to Jarryd Hayne.
Probably true but wherever there is smoke there is fire. This is how we know Don Burke is guilty of all charges.

Exactly. Nothing in that song was ironic. Thus my comment was. I think. Alanis Morrisette is confusing

Maybe she called the song Ironic because it's ironic that none of the events described in a song called Ironic are actually ironic...now that would be ironic

I've always thought this is such a dumb idiom. Hayne or not, just in general.

I could make up a rumor about, say, a Raiders player. All I need is for one or two of my mates to be dumb enough to believe it, and then for one or two of their mates to be do the same, and one or two of theirs and so on.... There's plenty of smoke all of a sudden for something I deadset made up.

Doesn't stop me from using it but
But it won’t be smoke because nobody in the know will be contributing. Opinion leaders generate the smoke, not nuffies like you and me.

I'm a 'reflection of my own thoughts'....

Hmmm...poignant...

...but wait a minute, we were talking about the world!

Am I a reflection of the world? Is the world the reflection of me?

If someone else does something good am I responsible? Is it my fault that someone else is a merkin?

F**k this is heavy duty. I'm going to need more tea...

Your getting the slowly.....
Imagine your thoughts like a river flowing. Let the negative ones pass and hold onto the possitive ones....
You wont notice the evil. It will be in the background. The more people thst do this then slowly the world will become a better place.

If you keep promoting the dog eat dog world then thats what it will become.

I think you overestimate the integrity of NRL journalism. And the stupidity of fans.

"Shhh 1. Which player is on the outer for his dressing room behaviour? Rumours are the player in question has a love of disgusting locker room pranks and his team mates are fed up."
*clearly this is not a real report*

One or two publications love this shit and have no qualms about whether or not it's true. Suddenly the rumour has even more smoke. In the eyes if the average knuckle dragging NRL fan anyway

You may or may not remember the time an LU poster submitted a made up story to Bourbon Bec Wilson and saw it published in her column a short time later

Not to mention fans of other clubs like to mock and laugh at Parra.
Anytime something negative about our club happens its headlining the sport. The same thing at a club like canberra would get 20 words. Know one cares.

It was in the 80s and 90s. Why did it take so long for these victims to say something?
What was said to Susie Oneal was crude. Hardly worth bringing up 20yrs later.

Agreed.
Until someone goes to the police and makes a report, Don Burke is possibly nothing more than a sleazy man. But I wouldn't even know that, although I have met him on several occasions and know his daughter well. He has always been a true gentleman.
