Agree with all that. I hadn't thought of Hayne / Auvaa swapping but I like it.

Really makes our attack hard to defence against next year with so many players in the backline able to play multiple roles:

Attacking fullback / roaming / play maker
Gutherson
French
Hayne

They can also all kick.

Finisher
French
KA
Hayne

Attacking at Centre
Hayne
Gutherson
KA
Jennings

Got heaps of options, I am sure BA is now dreaming of potential set plays

What happens to Taka? Bench utility, second row, depth at wenty or does he finally realise his dream of playing for the Tigers?

He will in the top 17 somewhere, probably bench. Based on our current squad I reckon our top 17 is:

1. Gutherson
2. French
3. Jennings
4. Hayne
5. KA
6. Norman
7. Moses
8. Mannah
9. Pritchard/king (reckon it will be Pritchard)
10. Evans
11. Manu
12. Moeroa
13. Brown

14. Taka
15. Edwards
16. Scott
17. Alvaro

Depth at Wenty/horses for courses.

No doubt named in the 21 each week but BA likes a bench hooker, and when he doesn't carry a bench hooker he prefers a big body.

Yes and yes. I like Taka but he seems the odd man out. We have other younger and cheaper centre depth and also the same with backrowers. That top 17 leaves out some regular first graders vave terepo fritchard Williams matagi. We are in a strong position it seems

Wonder if tepai might spend more time in the middle? Taka could end up on an edge

I also wonder if we might be better off resting Brown a bit ... he is great over 80 mins, but might be even greater getting a rest

Also wouldnt be surprised to see Scott getting rested (ie not playing) a few times during the season ... keep him fresher for the finals

I like Takairangi on the bench though the bench you've listed here lacks size. Moeroa and Edwards have both worn the 13 jersey, and aren't out of place in the middle, but we probably need more than Kane Evans in the 17.

Tep seems to have lost some weight going by the pre-season training photos meanwhile Kenny appears to have gained some mass. I feel that Tep will be spending more time, if not all of his field time, on the edge and we push Kenny to the middle where I believe he played in round 1 in 2014 for BA.

This would be pretty much spot on at our best. But I'd love to see Gennings get a look in for Auva'a, unless Auva'a has been spending time learning how to catch a bomb.

I think Kenny would be wasted in the middle, personally. At least in attack.

By having Evans / Taka's in our pack we are adding two, 190cm plus players both weighing around 110kg that we didn't have last year but yeah the bench is a bit lighter then what is preferable. Maybe start with either Taka/Edwards and Evans on the bench.

Anyhow maybe we haven't considered that BA may not be moving Taka. We are all assuming KA is getting a spot, maybe this isn't the case and Taka remains in the backline with. BA has mentioned we have money for a prop.

Except Moeroa wore 13 in round one 2016.

This year Kenny Edwards played every minute at edge forward. Moeroa starts on the edge but shifts to the middle when Edwards comes on, meaning he plays more minutes in the middle than out wide. I'd say Arthur prefers his more skillful forwards playing on the edge (assuming they have the lateral movement to defend there), and therefore Edwards is ahead of Moeroa. As a centre I'd say Takairangi (if moving to the forwards) will be ahead of Edwards, who is ahead of Moeroa. I wouldn't be surprised of Moeroa played every minute in the middle next year, and what of Tony Williams? Also more skillful than Moeroa, but he doesn't have the best lateral movement.

I find Bevan erratic at FB in attack. You don't know what he will do but neither does his teammates. He struggles to link with his outside men as he dummies and shimmies too much.

Guthe and Jayne are very good at linking to their outside man.much better at set plays and both can kick

After reading plus post, could guthe be the next camnsmith?

He got the work rate, the defence, the smarts about how to control a game from 9, can kick, can support little breaks and where the ball should go

Don't know, we don't seem to use him much in our structured plays, it's more him having a hit up, or running across the field looking for a hole/testing the defensive line. However he has been involved in a few nice plays on the edge. He could probably just as easy do that in the middle. Plus it could give us a bit more skill in the middle which we may lack.

Exciting times, so many options!!

Forgot about Williams, obviously he is no certainty to get a spot, but in form he could be another reason Taka may stay at centre.
