Forgot about Williams, obviously he is no certainty to get a spot, but in form he could be another reason Taka may stay at centre.

Taka is not staying at centre in first grade...well, maybe while Gutho is out for the first bit of the season. But at full strength no way is Taka in the centres.

Also, in this hypothetical, Williams would have to be on the other side of the field. He and Taka on the one edge would be a catastrophe in defence.

By having Evans / Taka's in our pack we are adding two, 190cm plus players both weighing around 110kg that we didn't have last year but yeah the bench is a bit lighter then what is preferable. Maybe start with either Taka/Edwards and Evans on the bench.

Anyhow maybe we haven't considered that BA may not be moving Taka. We are all assuming KA is getting a spot, maybe this isn't the case and Taka remains in the backline with. BA has mentioned we have money for a prop.

Is Takairangi really that big? He's obviously tall, but I don't believe his official weight of 108kg.

I do believe Williams' official weight of 118kg though. I can't see him defending effectively out wide for us, especially on Moses' side of the field. I reckon we might see:

If French gets first chance in the "1" I hope he uses his speed similar to Slater when fielding kicks. Slater puts the defence under pressure by doing more than running at the defence and being gang tackled. French is taller than Slater and hopefully increases his weight by a few kilos this pre season. Massive potential but needs variation.

He needs some meat on his bones ... he is just a bit of a lightweight ... but there have been plenty of shortish fullbacks who have got better as they put on a little bulk

Agreed but needs to use his pace more wisely. Hate seeing him getting smashed and driven back. Happened all to often. Barba is another who used his speed much better. Maybe he just did as instructed but I feel he is far better than that.

This would be pretty much spot on at our best. But I'd love to see Gennings get a look in for Auva'a, unless Auva'a has been spending time learning how to catch a bomb.

French just needs some time, I reckon his quality was shown this year, in that when he played we were a better side.

He was a bit unlucky with injuries but that can happen to young players still growing into his body. Don't forget he was only 21.

He was pretty bloody good early in the year before his first injury set back.

We missed him / Gutherson in the finals - they play -and I reckon we win in week 1.
