This season he was best on wing wiith Jennings on the inside.
If Bevans at fullback he always passes to the winger to ruck it up. If Bevans on the wing wouldnt the fullback like most do run it back?
Bevan takes the winger out of the first ruck by passing it to him 9/10 times.
Close to line he risks being dragged back into the in goals. On the wing Bevan gives us speed on the overlap.

This is the things i like in a fullback.
Safe under high ball.
Strong carting it back
Cut put pass
Kicking game if need be
Defensively strong.

I do not see Bevan better in any of these areas then Hayne.
So close to the line he risks being taken back but on the wing he doesn't risk being dragged out of touch?

Also, there is no way that a winger will be able to give the ball to a fullback 9/10 times for them to do the dirty work.

There will be plenty of times where the fullback will be too far away and he will need to put it under his arm and go himself.

Interesting that Bevans 89kgs under new profiles.....This changes everything. He was low 80s for 2017.

It’s very hard to isolate the fullback with a kick because he’s in the middle of the field with plenty of mates and fewer great kick chasers bearing down on him.

There’s a reason the kicking team tries to pin the opposition in the corner rather than in front of the posts and it’s not because modern wingers are no good at running the ball into traffic.

Is it that they set up a milk bar every time they get a corner?

Or that it is useful for bashing the opposition forwards when they try to ruck the ball out?

Can you name any current first grade wingers that aren't expected to 'ruck it out' and are only there for their finishing and try scoring?

Merrit and Burt are retired.
Josh Addo-Car is a similar player and his official weight on the Storm website is 81kg.

Reece Robinson might make his way into 1st grade at the dragons as well.

One dude who played in the most recent premiership winning team, so in answer to your question, yes I can.
Partial credit.

I don't think Ado-Carr plays a similar role to what Burt or Merritt played. He still does some tough stuff helping the Storm getting out of their own end.

Fair point but with the extra weight French has put on he could be more effective with the tough stuff as well.

It actually surprised the shit out of me how addo-carr changed to be the type who runs like a mad merkin into the defence - he certainly doesnt play like a lightweight anymore ... bellamy gets shit out of his players

In Melbourne, he's no longer afraid of being a smashed Addo.

I don’t reckon there’d be much difference in weight between French and Addo-Carr. French just needs to find his inner merkin. 9E6A5E87-3F7F-4AF1-9789-0070950D3C72.jpeg02B6769F-E5AB-415D-A1D1-0E46FAEE052A.jpeg
