French isn't bad at rucking the ball out. It's just that opposition players are allowed to pick him up and drag him back. Refs allow this to happen and often don't call held for him when he has 2 feet off the ground. If the refs called held sooner, like they do every other fullback, then there wouldn't be much of a problem.

With the greatest respect, I think it's a bit rich to claim that the refs treat him differently. He finds himself in different situation to most other fullbacks, coz he's a smallish bloke and doesn't always get his body weight low. They'll always allow the defense some reward in those cases.
