Ludicrous decision, espescially after this be like QLD and show loyalty bs.

Dugan isn't ready and he cant play injured. Hayne is a knob but he is a devestating player.

Stick will get the sack I reckon.

Very puzzling decision. I think Dugan is a great fullback... but surely you'd find a spot for Hayne somewhere in the side. He's excelled at origin level and been named NSW's player of the series TWICE off the wing. He's had experience playing club level in the centres but it's not his best position. He had a blinder for us last night too despite our collapse. He's a proven performer at SOO level so it makes absolutely no sense for Sticky to leave him out of the side altogether.

Dugan is a specialist fullback, and his positioning and defence are outstanding.

Hayne offers more in attack.

The solution? Pick Hayne on the left wing instead of Morris, and have Hayne and Dugan switch in attack. That way Hayne gets more involved and can play that roving/playmaking fullback role, while Dugan can cover the backfield in defense.

Forward pack is also a joke. Beau Scott isn't talented enough for Origin. Creagh is too pea-hearted for Origin. Merrin is too inexperienced for Origin. Especially over guys like Douglas, Tolman etc.

And King? Because there absolutely has to be at least one Manly player while Fulton is a selector?

I feel really sorry for you guys. This is going to be a series whitewash.

Great day to be a NSW supporter.
Wake up hoping for at least some semi-decent squad announced.
Come back home from work to realize the side is shittier than the worst side imaginable.

So why the hell have I supported NSW in origin all these years now?

LIke I said I find it a truly baffling call to make.

At the very, very worst, why not have him on the bench instead of Dean Young? Hayne is a devastating runner of the ball up the middle of the park. At the very least against tiring players he could cause some havoc late in games. Do you think QLD will be fearing Dean Young to come on and make an impact. No dis respect to the guy he is a good, honest first grader in a very good side.

People carry on and on about the QLD spirit. Sure, ok they are good at that. However the reason they have won 5 series on the spin is because of classy attacking players such as Slater, Inglis, Lockyer, Thurston, Smith.

Ridiculous. May have left Bird out as well.

Message to Blues players: don't show talent, individual brilliance or a desire to compete and be succesful.

So basically Sticky left Hayne out because he can pass and kick now?

Funny shit.

yeh that got me too.

So basically he gets punished for having extra skills?!?!?

Put him on the wing and tell him not to kick (Obviously cant pass, unless its to Joe the Cameraman on the segway).

He still offers better kick returns, better tackle break ability, better match winning ability then Morris.

He has played 8 of his games for NSW on the Wing. I dont think defence will be an issue, he can tackle better then any winger i know. And its not like he was found out the last 4 years, and Morris was shithouse in defence last year rushing up and in.

And Sticky is the one to harp on about not playing players out of position? wasnt he the coach of Cronulla for 3 or so seasons? a team which read second rower from 2-17

This is what Stuart said in the presser when asked about the Hayne omission

"I think Josh Dugan plays more of a style of game that I want to coach,"

What exactly does that mean? :?

To me this is not even an argument of Hayne v Dugan. No problem whatsoever having Dugan in the number 1 jumper. But surely Hayne can fill a utility role at the very worst with the absence of Gidley :sarcasm:

He likes Dugan more because he doesn't pass and kick.
Take home message for all potential blues players.

I cannot remember a more staggering omission from a NSW team ever. Unbelievable.

I don't know. I just keep thinking about Hayne magic on the flank. You can't coach that stuff. And you're an idiot if you want to coach it out of a winger. I would have put him on the flank at B Morris's expense and given Qld something to think about on both flanks.

With the greatest respect to B Moz - he has wheels and looks to support breaks, but thats about it. Hayne has X factor and he's a bigger unit. He tackles strongly. And he is always looking to create something out of nothing.

He'd have one wing spot and Manu Vatuvei the other in my World XIII, let alone a NSW team!

I think Ricky Stuart has also completely belittled Kearney's judgement as a coach. I mean Mortimer is the biggest dud 5/8 in the game and Kearney hasn't even thought to slot Hayne into his position. I mean clearly his not the smartest coach but you'd think he'd at least have pondered the possibility and acted on it.

Also howcome in last weeks article Ricky said it was Hayne vs Dugan for the fullback decision.
