Im guessing that the longer this goes on the less chance we have of signing him
It is a worry. If a marquee player is off contract with numerous interested parties, ala Mason saga, you can understand the process taking its time. The player needs to weigh up all the offers and make the best decision.
But for a guy with injury problems, who spent his last few playing months in OZ on the sideline or reserve grade, you'd think there would be high level urgency to it doesn't tick over to 2008 without a club to play for.
Head would have 3 offers on the table based on what the papers say: Bulldogs, ESL, Tigers.
Bulldogs: team on a downward slope, lost a heap of experience but even so he might not be first choice half if he goes there. Could be good money though.
ESL: guaranteed to be first choice half, very good money. Playing for one of the lesser clubs and getting thrashed each week can be depressing as is living in UK. If he doesn't return to the NRL now, he won't be get any offers down the track. Out of sight, out of mind.
Tigers: top 8 potential, not guaranteed but highly likely to be first choice half, play under supercoach, could be the least lucrative offer with salary cap pressure and fact Dogs have freed up so much cap space.
If a player genuinely wants to play for a club and that club genuinely wants to sign him, you'd think the recruitment process would be quick and easy.
