SOAD? They're somewhere between pop rock and hard rock imo. Pop-hard rock.

They have no defining metal elements.

Another crucial, classic metal elements is the drumming - a lot of bands use the (excuse my lack of terminology as I am but a metal purist with no actual musical ability of my own) the foot drums to create the beatblasting you hear a lot. Certainly not a part of rock or punk or pop rock.

Don't like metal anymore dude? shame man i thought you diged Def LEP ETC;-)

I definitely still dig the whole glam rock era. I was just havin a laugh at how the pic had them all sectioned off like there was a band name formula.

I recently watched a documentary about the evolution of metal during that whole 80s era and it was great. They were saying that every band during that era had to have a power ballad as thier second single after Motley Crue pulled it off. Funny, but true.

Nothing will beat Alice Cooper for that when he released Only Women Bleed. Someone played it to a few hundred people and asked them who sung it, obvious no-one answered Alice.

Ha - I was listening to Stomp 442 in the car this morning on the way to work.

Different singer but still awesome.

Man, I've still got about 50 CDs in my cupboard I haven't even listened to yet! Might have to get them out in the next few weeks while my g/f is at work
