Wow a lot of our signings are international players. We actually recruited well this year.

I tell you why I was excited after watching that Premier league final yesterday and it had nothing to do with Hendo or Pera!

number 4 for the roosters Iosa Sololia!! ...no we haven't signed him, unfortunatly, but he has been compared to Mal Meninga and had a massive game to prove it yesterday.

This bloke, played in the same Junior Kiwi side that Josh Davis played in, his centre partner and was upstaged by Josh in both the matches they played in, Josh scored three tries in one of them.

so if Sololia is going to be the gun player in the NRL next year, what will Josh Davis do????

I'm excited.... ;-)

I can go into why but it is a longish post that I have covered a few times so here we go in point form

*Top 25 Player Minimum Contract Rate 1999: $ 100,000
*Expected Player income for Recruits 2003-2004 Season: $ 40,000 - $ 80,000
*This frees up money under the salary cap for, Tahu, Morrison and Riddel as well contract renegotiaons for Hindmarsh and Cayless.

So as Brian Smith said in his last press conference, this was the season Parramatta had to have.

Though in saying that it was only our depth that was effected and unfortunately, that depth was tested with the loss of 2 international centres, our biggest forwards in the first 8 rounds, as well as the loss of a barn storming winger, and the ineffectuality of our Pommie import (Please note he only came good after the Tigers game where he had a shocker and wasn't playing well up until that point.).

I thouhgt Henderson was solid - depending on attitude, I get the feeling he could be a player who would thrive under Smithy (if Smithy is coach of course)....he's a good defender and gave pretty good service out of dummy half.

And I thought Henry did pretty well in a beaten team....made a few breaks - is a rangy, mobile type of player - he seems to work hard - I think ball security was a bit of an issue tho.....if he worked hard and lifted a bit I could see him maybe playing some NRL games off the bench.

True or not...its not nice to hear your coach going around saying that sort of stuff....that sort of comment might have been better kept in-house (well not at a media conference anyway).

Strider, I think it shows that the Coach has a plan and has had a plan for a while now. While you can't plan for injuries I would love for all the players who we have bought or retained that had injuries last year to not be injuried next year.

The only plans you are allowed to have in the NRL these days are "win this year" plans.

Seriously - the game has turned into a win NOW setup:
- you can't keep your young kids that you develop cos they expect to be in 1st grade NOW - some other team will give them that chance
- you struggle to keep alot of top graders because of salary cap
- player's careers are shorter cos the game is more demanding....we can't afford to wait 4+yrs for some young kids to develop, our core players like Hindy need support NOW while they are in their prime.
- lastly, your fans will turn on you if you aren't at the top

If that's about the booing, I never booed my team and probably never will.

But I think they were entitled to it. Three years ago, we're at the top, and now we linger towards the bottom.

We, as the fans, deserve better.

henry played pretty solidly , could be a very handy pickup if injuries etc occur
same with henderson..

I agree!

but will still struggle to make our first 17. Hendo has a lot of potential IMO.
