Newcastle is one of the protected clubs, has been since they beat Manly in the 97 GF, so it will be interesting to see what the NRL will do. probably come out and say he is entitled to his day in court etc etc and do nothing till then. I would say he will get time if found guilty so NRL wont have to do anything.

Me, I'd have a look at defending it.

1. Dark laneway
2. Couldn't get into a pub / club - intoxicated
3. Couldn't get into a pub / club - after lock out
4. Lack of toilets in the area
5. Holding your urine in can cause medical problems
6. What is the definition of reasonable today?

Over to you Dave.

It is indeed interesting that despite Gallen making a public apology, according to one media report, and Damian Irvine launching a tirade denouncing his actions and the club imposing a hefty fine and the NRL threatening to refer it to the new internal tribunal and some man hating s**t installed for the ascetic value only, he, Gallen, might well be found innocent if he chooses to contest the charge.

Where can one read this hissy fit? Why a tirade anyway, why not a brush off like every other board chairman would of done.

This is exactly why Irvine is no good for this club. He's a self righteous do gooder with a soft attitude and a need to be seen to be doing the right thing attitude.

Anyone who has spent any time on here at all would know from the posts of his main alias that Irvine is a moralistic nut job.

Right now we are a club without a main sponsor. Given the year we've had I'd say the board's priority at the moment is finding someone, and that will be made all the harder if the club is in the headlines for the wrong reason.

As much as I think it's a non-event, I don't think the board/chairman had much of a choice in this situation. If we were a big club, had no money issues then by all means we could snub our noses at the press. The simple fact is we are not.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...wee-bit-of-strife-with-law-20091212-kpt4.html
Sharks chairman Damian Irvine said he was ''filthy'' and ''gutted'' after learning that the off-field actions of a senior player who toured with the Kangaroos for the recent Four Nations tournament in England and France had again resulted in negative publicity.
''He'll be fronting us on Monday or Tuesday morning at the latest and we'll see what action we take on it,'' Irvine said last night.
''I'm filthy on it, I'm absolutely gutted. It's not a huge thing, it's a silly thing.
''We've got a lot of good momentum and anything like this that threatens the stability and positivity of the squad is just gutting. We don't need it and he should know better.
''We've got procedures in place to deal with this and the board will make the right call. The appropriate action will take place, without being melodramatic about it, and we'll go from there.''

Hardly a hissy fit or a tirade?

I'm not upset at all. I know what I know about your hero. You don't.

Can you make a list of things Irvine himself has done that qualifies him to claim to be doing a really good job.

No major sponsor, no money for players, no culture change, no increase in membership. Not one thing going forward except a few dubious appointments into buzz word positions. Lots of money spent employing talking heads with no form on the board in rugby league.

Fekkin blind mason is all you are Vossy. Wake up and smell the roses. Nothing has changed!

I didn't ask you.

Not specifically, but you didn't ask anyone specifically. It would seem you just asked anyone who reads the forum. Perhaps if you were asking someone specifically you might have used their name? Or pm'd them?

I didn't refer to it as a tirade either. Read the thread properly.

I thought I did read it properly. Right here

Where can one read this hissy fit? Why a tirade anyway, why not a brush off like every other board chairman would of done.

Frenzy, If I've misunderstood something. Please help me to understand so I don't make this error again. From what I read above, you have referred to both a "hissy fit" and a "tirade".

actually memberships are up

people who have been hired to fill positions left vacant by the the boys club era have been filled with people who actually know what they are doing

he, along with the board have gone through everything to do with the old boys club to discover how piss poor this club was actually run, so much money being wasted, its quite disturbing actually..he is changing that

you claim im just a blind mason, it seems you to are blind by your hate for the man

is membership really up though?

were still behind last years total figures of season ticket holders. i would have thought given the more public membership campaign we would have gone past the 2 thousand people.

its 2 thousand. f**k me. is that it? is that all we can f**king muster?

we dont see the total membershp figures either.

and no sponsor on board as yet. or will it just be this coldwell banker company. if so we lose out there.

yeah this is true.

but look at the other clubs. we released our membership campaign well before everyone else and were still last. the dragons released theirs 2 weeks ago and theyve gone past us already.

we should have more than we have. either the drive hasnt quite worked or we have 5 thousand die hard fans at the most.

either way its bad.

after our horror season its going to take alittle bit longer to get people on side then teams like the dragons, plus shire people are fickle

but its just not the shire Sydney is a big city and we only have less than 2000 season ticket holders so far. Less than 0.1% of sydney are interested in being Sharks season ticket holders (well its actually less then 0.05%)
