Oh I’d say he’ll be pretty busy today.....

Doing what?

According to Rothfield and co
An anonymous source said the clubs servers were taken away.

Now called me mad but how many servers does a footy clubs network need???

Were they taken away in March?

How has anyone done any work?
How did my game payments get clarified??

Mate
Barry can’t be doing too much
He has no f**king computer
Get on down there.
Rip into him.

I’m sure every media organisation have been ringing the Club since this bombshell dropped wanting to talk to Barry.

I don’t think he’ll be having a round of golf anytime soon.

But hey if this farks our finals campaign or taints our 2016 GF Win at least Barry was honest.....

If it doesn't affect either 2016 or 2018 I couldn't give a rats. Will be a significant fine and possibly some sanctions on previous management and the game will go on. At least it would appear the current management would appear to be ensuring everything is in order....which isn't a bad thing given our track record.

DS, Mate, I have to disagree with you on this one.

The facts are that the NRL is an uneven competition in terms of how each club is treated. If Cronulla was afforded the same leniency as the Broncos and Roosters, I would agree with you - but we are not.

Barry has taken the correct approach by bringing it to the NRL's attention - what the media do with that information is out of the Club's control.

It is absolutely astonishing that this is breaking news one week away from the Semi Finals when the initial discovery was made and reported 5 months ago.

I could put a very strong argument together suggesting that this is the work of Rothfield seeking revenge on recent events, or someone at the NRL doesn't like our Club and is seeking to derail our season.

I simply cannot believe that the media were unaware of this story - my view is that they have sat on this until they could get maximum exposure which of course is Semi Finals time.

Again, I say, we are not treated with the same level of respect as the Broncos and Roosters - we never will be - which is why I believe we have done the right thing.

Barry has made the right call by reporting when he did.

Of course he has.

We don’t know the circumstances. Barry could have formed the opinion that this would have been identified anyway, he could have been threatened with exposure, we all have no idea. It is impossible to judge his actions on this.

I will say though, that if there was any real risk of this coming out eventually, by far the best option is disclosure. I can’t bag him.

Well it has affected 2018, you can bet the team is feeling it.

And good luck to us getting a good major sponsor next year.

Fiz, I’ve always respected your opinions on this forum and I respect your opinion on this issue too. I’m not for one minute doubting that the “editor at large” didn’t perfectly drop this story to get maximum impact.

Yes full marks for Barry being honest. But I bet he had no idea what happened next was going to happen. I reckon he was naive in thinking that the NRL would say oh thanks for that. It’s not a huge payment and from a previous management no worries can you make sure it doesn’t happen on your watch in the future.

If he knew what would go down after that would he have been as honest?

See the thing is the NRL never find out about these things unless there is a whistle blower. They just don’t. But we know all the Clubs cheat in some way. History has shown that Melbourne, Warriors, Manly, Bulldogs, Parramatta who have been caught in recent times.

So in my opinion he should have kept quiet about that discretion in 2015 and just make sure that no shyte he didn’t like went down on his watch. Because a lot of people’s hard work for that Premiership just got tarnished. Right or wrong it will always be brought up now. And it’s not f**king fair to them even though all the Clubs do cheat in some form. But the ones not caught are seen as model Clubs. And we all know that’s not true. They just haven’t been found out by a whistle blower.

Just stop
Being busted with knowledge of any cap discrepancy is not worth the risk.

Seriously
Who the f**k could Barry trust?
Nobody.
Just f**king end any chance of getting caught by declaring it.

I’m not really sure why it’s called Salary Cap scandal.

Isn’t it about a potential unreported TPA and that 2017 is pretty much the same, potentially unreported payments?

If so, were we over the cap even with those unreported payments.

If we are clear in 2016 I can’t see how we are over in 2017.

I recall talk in here in 2017 that we had room in the CAP? If 2018 is clear with Woods added, wouldn’t that suggest we under even before the increase in the CAP?

Anyway, don’t give a shit, fine us and get on with it

Honestly if the NRL can't see that the problem all along is Third Party Payments. It has been an open sore, a NRL joke for years.

It is those shits (the NRL) that is the one that really needs to clean up their act.

This problem is going to raise its head every year or two. The punters know it as a joke. Look at the comments about what goes on in and around Bondi and Brissie.

Personally I couldn't give a shit about it all right now.

When Was the last time we had a good sponsor??

As for fines, parra were over 1.5 million in a 5 year period and were fined $750k. And lost the nines trophy.

Triple m just reported that the amount we are looking at is around 150k since 2015. So going by consistency which is the nrl go, we will be fined about $75k, with probably $25k withheld.

I think TPA can’t be from anyone connected financially with the club.
Which is complete nonsense.
Imagine the shit that goes on at other joints .

The major salary cap Rorts of the past 10 years, were yes all found by whistleblowers.

Did any self report a discrepancy? Did any not try and cover it up more?

It looks weird to dob yourself in, but it was the correct tact. Don’t be Melbourne and Parea and the dogs with multiple filing cabinets.
The value and amounts are only news because it’s cronulla and we are an easy target.

Pay the fine and get on with it.
