Can't see Bennet coming back to Sydney. Recent report was him being advisor to new coach Walters at the Broncos. This would appear to make more sense. Henry or Sheens seem more likely. Both didn't really deliver as much as you might have hoped with their previous teams. Either is better than Price who, it present, has no idea what to do with our team

It almost seems like the more the fans show their disapproval the more Doust and the board do the opposite. As if they do not want to be seen bending to the will of the fans.
They think they are all powerful and will not listen to us as that would lower their place in the world.
Time to get rid of them.

The question is though, are we going to be just happy with better than Price, or do we want a coach that will help guide us to another premiership? Henry or Sheens may bring short term relief, but I do not think either would lead to a premiership.

I'm guessing that it all depends on who they can get WIN to stump the cash for.

But no Sheens for me.

Hey BRV who is your preferred choice?
I'd be happy with Henry or Taylor. Not fussed on Sheens but he is an upgrade on what we have.

Sheens has won 4 premierships so I don't see how u can say he won't bring us one.

He fluked one in 2005 and had and absolutely sensational team in the early 90s and his teams over the last decade and a half have missed the finals more often then they did. Plus I would not consider him a long term option. Also, would prefer a coach not sacked from his last position.

My preferred choice out of the uncontracted for next season pile is Shaun Wane from Wigan. Has some merkin about him and we really need that. Has had success and served as assistant under Maguire as well. Back him up with an experienced 2nd ie. Taylor, Parish and I think he would bring us success.

Out of all the options however, I do not think we should be gambling on a rookie again. We need experience especially to stick up to the likes of Doust and co. as they will no doubt keep their positions.

Rookies are a gamble but have paid off at some clubs like Souths - Maguire. Roosters - Robinson, Green is doing well at Cowboys and Potter's second year is going well at the moment. Toovey at Manly is another one. Brad Arthur will be added to the list at the end of the season. Potters second year with not many new recruits mostly youth is mostly impressive.

Other rookies haven't been successful but those have been sacked less than 2 years in the job due to poor performances i.e Kearney. I think Furner lasted more than 2 years but hey he even beat Price's teams so he must be better than Price.

Do the Board look outside the club and see how other teams coaches are performing? Obviously not.

some of the "rookies" you have mentioned are only coaching rookies in the NRL. they have had extensive experience in the ESL such as Potter, Maguire and Robinson.

ESL is a good place to source coaching talent - i wonder if the dragons look over there?

Pretty sure its been proven that the raiders rorted the salary cap during that time.

Whoever is hiring the coach is important, whoever is qualified enough to choose the right option.
Same can be said for player talent.
Who is doing their homework to find the right coaching option, whoever chose Price is obviously a f#*king idiot and I'm afraid the same person /persons will be involved in hiring the next one.

Well sorry to ruin you're day but the same persons will be involved. Saints are becoming a family business and unless democracy ruins the party they will stay that way.

On fox this morning on the Slats & TK sports morning radio show, they were talking to Daley and asked him straight out were the rumours correct that they heard he may be coaching the Dragons, and his answer was, yeah I heard that one yesterday a well....he then said look Im concentrating on the NSW side at the moment...etc...but he didn't deny the rumour either......whether that means anything who knows.

Doust sought the advice from Phil Gould. Price was also recommended by Bennett.

I posted that Daley may be an option prior to SOO last year.
I'll wait until we see his tactics this year before giving further opinion.
I think he'd like the job
I would have preferred in order
1. Hasler
2. Toovey
3. Bellamy
4. Bennett
5. Potter
Daley however is influential and balanced. He is also a very focussed individual
We could do worse
5. Arthur
