Marshall is salary cap dollars basically given to them by NRL ..
coaches salary (x2) is out of their own pockets...
thats my take on it..

I think Slippery was referring to the compensation matter.
That was not necessarily an all cash agreement anyway so it doesn't point to any greater liquidity.
A lack of funds can surely be the only explanation for not acting on this now (sacking Price that is).

Hey Red, if they were worried about a payout then the would not have dished out the cash for Marshall.

Reports were that the agreement to allow benji to play, was just that. An agreement "to pay". Apparently the payments are in instalments, with no cash having parted way yet. We are not flushed with money atm. They should however I think pay out Price no matter what. As was mentioned in another post, the cost of keeping him is great.

Even so, when you pay out money that doesnt mean you have plenty, it means you now have less

I think you are right, as you also highlighted the financial damage from not winning would far exceed a coach's salary , so it all points to having no cash in the tin at the present on the clubs books.

Doust probably keeping enough cash for his own payout if he was axed,no doubt negotiated by himself with himself for himself:D

Yeah, we need to do the right thing by Price, bite the bullet and honour our agreement.

The board, as you imply, seems immune to any responsibility.

Its a sham.

Sheens and Benji reunion. Great story that would be for the papers.

Make it happen Saints ASAP........He is 63 so he probably only be around a few more years before he retires.

I am sure he can start ASAP. Current Australian coach will surely attract some players.

Right on Slippery; I've being saying this for a while now.

Benji now on board and Sheens negotiating with the Tigers for a settlement. Soon we will see this dream come true.

Anyone else out there want to see Sheens - a real coach - replace Price as soon as possible.

I thought he was a possibility a year or 2 ago but would be surprised if he was back in favour. I don't mind him and anyone is better than Price. I think if he coached NRL he'd give up the Australian job so not sure about attracting players. He is available now I believe as well

He didn't attract f**k all to the Tigers when he was there except Adam Blair.

Benji and Sheens were tight it was Robbie Farrah that did not get on with Benji. Remember when Benji said he would like to play his whole career under Sheens?

Just imagine though Bennett coming back to rebuild the legacy dream come true for most our supporters although so doubt he would.. However with the lineup we have I wouldn't be surprised if he considered it

Nah man. It was apparent in Bennett's final year at the Dragons that the game had changed and he hadn't. I'm not surprised the Knights are struggling and I don't want him back. Thanks for the memories and all.

In my humble opinion:
Sheens
Smith
Henry
Bennett
Are good experienced men who can coach. All four are very capable of improving our squad and lifting the team to it's rightful place within the top 4.

I also think:
Millward
Daley
Taylor
Would be an improvement on Price. Just the change of coach to one of these guys would quickly see us to be within the top 8.

Price = the Dragons being a bottom four team.

Hard baby I agree about Bennet the game has changed but in saying that Bennett would be 1000 times better than what we have.........

Its all pretty irrelevant...nothing is going to change in the short term...we only have next season to wait for and see who is the new coach?? next year

I can't believe Price wasn't sacked. I am still stunned. Our season is dead in the water and it's only May. A year wasted.

I can't believe Laurie Daley is being considered at all. Stunned. Another few murdered seasons in the offing.

I can't believe what is happening to this club. Oust them all

It is all very odd. The club did not learn the value of the coach even though Wayne Bennett proved it with the Dragons so clearly - right under their nose. Beggars belief!

Possm like a few of the other forumites is at the older end of the spectrum and the font size is just for their ease of reading ;-)
