Hasan was cut by the Lizards.

Stevo was paoched by the Sharks and the Lizards were none too happy.

Hence Hassan was a reject, Stevo was a choice recruitment at the SL time.

I just took the opportunity to ask if this person would attract those sort of supporters. If you don't think so, fine, say so, but you can stop categorising me, you don't know me, mate.

BTW, you are still on the background. Try to focus on this question. Will this person would attract those sort of supporters? Forget about me, for a sec mate, I don't matter. Concentrate now Reefy, I know you can have an argument that isn't personal.
Why would this person attract any type of supporter?
I don't get it. Thats why I cant answer it.
Probably the reason I don't get it is because I haven't seen a thread similar. Saleh has been singled out.
Your thread should have read:
Will we get troublesome supporters like the dogs do if we sign hassan?
The answer is we might.

Will we get drunken, socially diificult Aboriginal supporters to the games if we sign merrit & peach?
The answer is we might.

Will we get brawling, aggressive maori types to the games if we sign Lomu?
Yes, we might.

Will get white trash supporters to games who get comkpletely drunk & hurl racial abuse to anyone with whom they don't feel racially comfortable?
Definitely! Put your house on it.

Yeah mate only white ppl are racist ....

Come to the Western Suburbs champ!!!

That is just like me saying:

Will there be Lebanese Muslims hurling abuse at opposition supporters, making death threats to women and physical intimidation at a Bulldogs game?
Definitely! Put your house on it.

All I am saying is not all the abuse is from aussies - we cop a lot too. Im sure some ethnic ppl are not "racially comfortable" with us either 8) 8) 8)

Thanks Jack - I already deleted a whole load of posts that said just that, none of which have any place in this thread, because we're supposed to be discussing Hassan Saleh, not trying to establish who has the most racist fans.

And that, I believe, is reefy's point - we will have the same fans we always did and a small minority of them will be abusive tossers. We don't care what colour they are (as long as they're wearing black, white and blue, of course!).

What baffles me is that there is next to no justification for Hassan Saleh's signature. Depth? Hardly a legitimate reason as the wing is arguably our most covered position within the club. Speed? You've gotta be kidding me. Size? See speed...

I hardly believe the argument offered up by those opposed to his signing has very much to do with race/ethnicity. Remember, people were just as opposed to Brett Kimmorley signing with the club following his spell at the Northern Eagles. His addition relegated the reigning Dally M Player of the Year to the bench (and eventually beyond), only for him and the coach who propelled him into the national spotlight to win a Premiership two years later (one for Preston) while we struggled to even look like a team at most times.

For mine, it's as simple as Hassan not bringing anything more to the plate than any of our current wingers based at the club... :?

I'd tend to agree with that, but he's here now and I think we should give him a chance to prove himself (or otherwise). Like most, I didn't think much of him at Wests or at the Dragons, but then it's hard to shine in teams that poor. Now he's got a chance to play in a team that has a lot of potential IMO.

If he fails, he fails, but Raper obviosuly sees something in him so let's give him the chance.

Interesting..

This is from the Official Match report on the Site;

The Sharks would have also been encouraged by the performance of winger Hassan Saleh, a former St George Dragon who only signed with the Cronulla club the previous week. Saleh crossed for three tries in the Sharks Premier League team's 74-4 total score against the four clubs, and then backed up to score another during the NRL trial.

Reefy makes a point about rednecks
It's always funny when someone precedes a comment with "Now I'm not racist or anything but..."

Just say what you think
If you dont like Saleh just cos he's an Arab, say so
Who really cares

I couldnt care less what the prick is
I dont like him cos he's low...he's Hassan Saleh

LOL... is that why you said THIS SS?...

On Hassan Saleh, he is a low low specimen obviously of questionable breeding stock and I hope he gets hit by a bus before he gets the opportunity to play for our proud club.

If nothing more, it's grounds for his parents to sue your arse mate ;-)

It smacked of racism to me though... :?

His parents are going to sue me because I said he's of questionable breeding stock? What if I said the same about you Aries? The way lawsuits get mentioned on this forum all the time is a sad joke.

It smacked of racism to me though...
I've said many times that I dont care what ethnicity Saleh is. But I also think people should say what they think. If I didnt like him cos he's an Arab, I'd say so. I dont think its the correct opinion to have but if I did think it, I certainly wouldnt water it down.

Where's the racism?

I'll throw back to the man in question and the way he plays the game. There is a picture of him in today's Newcastle Herald, sliding in with his knees in the back of a player from Woy Woy - who is in the motion of scoring a try.

That's a class act in any man's book.

He learnt that from watching Alfie, obviously...
