To simplify the issue.

Was he put into a dangerous position?

He didn't put himself in that position as it is impossible for a player to levitate,then drive himself towards the ground.

My first impression was that it didn't look any different than any other illegal tackle.

And after viewing it again via IBM's vid link,Hodges does have a case to answer for.

People are saying his other leg kicked up.That is because of the position he was put in.And the mechanics of the human body will always give way if you are unbalanced.

But the main point here is simple and straightforward,that the judiciary will have no other recourse but to penalise Hodges for one week due to him being put into a dangerous position.

Inglis has been milking lifting penalties for a couple of years in a similar fashion. No idea why you'd want to put yourself in that sort of position given what happened to Alex McKinnon, but Guerra clearly contributed to the end result.

However.. Hodges is not without guilt, has an abhorrent record and I'd love nothing more than for him to be rubbed out.

Given the embarrassing inconsistency and recent lack of action at the MRC (Kasiano, Pritchard, Keary) etc, and the commentary already coming out of the usual corners, I think he'll get off. Hope I'm wrong as it would be an insult to us all. But hey I guess we're all used to it now.

Hodges won't get off. Isaac Luke had all the commentators screaming for him to get off last year but it didn't help and the two have similar histories of stupidity

Yes dad......but when have the NRL ever assigned anyone to school probation for 6 months, school kids dont play in the NRL

You are opening a can of worms if you go down that path.

Hypothetically,that means if a player gets off to play in a GF,there will be howls of protest from the players who miss out on a finals match if they are suspended in the competition proper with say one or two rounds to go.

The point is that the player was put in a dangerous position.

You can't get it more black and white than that.And the commission will go through it's process as if it was the first round of the comp and they will deal with it accordingly.

There are fans who were seeing it through Rose Coloured Glasses.And
there are of course neutral fans in here that are seeing it for what it really is.

A pretty simple cut and dried case.

But the precendent has been set with Burge$$ not charged last year he should have been suspended after the hit on SBW.

I would not bet on either outcome at the moment.
