I thought he was solid in his debut at suncorp. He'll be better for the run, he needs to get a bit deeper though I think, seemed to be kicking the ball with QLDers in his face. Much better control of the game compared to Pearce. Our side didn't look rushed like it has in the past

So many salty roosters fans in here talking about kicking lol f**k off clowns your semi geniused halfback had twelve games and not once did he play a better game then our half last night. Seriously if Trent had of run out there and not touched the ball or made a tackle for the whole 80 minutes then that would lap Pearceys best origin performance.

Hodkinson was solid, didnt drop any balls, butcher any overlaps, or give away any stupid penalties, assualt any females etc Yeah his kicking game was not the best but that being said Pearce would be stoked to produce that sort of kicking in an origin.

Must be the full moon syndrome flashback- the nutters are out in force today :lol:

last nights halves lack ability and creativity at this level of football - 2 tries all with NSW getting home on penalty goals- cannot see QLD playing as poor again as they did last night and or suffering a major setback as they did when Cronk Broke his arm.

Hodgkinson made 1 run of 8 metres and 21 tackles- as the half he is there to run the ball and take the line on not play as an extra forward. QLD made 6 line breaks to 3 and i fully expect to make a few more in Sydney and capitalise on most of them

Pearce will carve up most opponents in the NRL during the coming weeks.

Hodkinson will struggle to take on the defensive lines of his opponents. He will continue to kick down the throats of his opposing full backs and wingers on the fifth tackle.

It all means that the Roosters will continue their climb up the NRL ladder while Canterbury slowly slides down.

Meanwhile Queensland will win the State of Origin series, and until the final whistle of the third game Qld fans will have a big giggle in private at how pathetic the NSW scrum half is.

Yes with SBW gifting you linebreaks, my dead donkey could carve up in those circumstances. NSW had more line drop outs in 1 game last night than Pearce had in 6 years!

Whilst your slogging it out to your retirement at 70 or 75 by then-Pearce will be able to retire on the income he receives from his assets when he finishes playing NRL- Whose the smart one then. Your dead donkey if that good should be considered for QLD SOO selection for game 2 in that case.

The great Hodgo did the job like the Haynetrain predicted 7 years ago

Dogs of War halves + Haynetrain + The real Haynetrain > QLD

A simple Win - loss scenario is an extremely weak process for determining whether the team remains intact or determining if changes need to be made.

Taking Game 1 as an example, if Boyd wasn't held up by B Morris or Thurston kicked his goals, then you would support changes to be made simply because one or two events changed the course of the game and the team lost?

The call for punting TH & JR would be massive if one or two plays went the other way, because they were largely ineffective despite the win, no different to Pearce.

In saying that, yes they should remain but it's not simply because they recorded a win.

The NSW goal line defence was epic, but the QLD swarming defence as NSW tried to run the ball out of their defensive red zone was just as huge. NSW couldn't run through tissue paper in the final 30 mins of the second half. Perhaps it was from all the defensive work but the aspects of the game have to be analysed rather than just the outcome. It is the success or failure of these factors that leads to the outcome.

This one went NSW's way. Doesn't mean that NSW can withstand all the pressure again with the same outcome in Game 2.

Fifita & Bird should be in the team if available.

This was the first game where DCE took full control of QLD right-side attack, and it showed. He'll be good for the run.

Brett should be under the microscope - he let that f**ken cat Boyd in for two tries, the second try Morris didn't lay a hand on him.

Boyd was at long odds to score his first try considering where he was when he first caught the ball, he should never have scored.

lol, that's the thing I hate about playing wing in footy.

If you're the closest to the try, it's all your fault. Never mind the other 12 players next to you.

Hodkinson had an awful game. His field kicking was straight to a Queenslander. No penetration in attack. NSW won narrowly. Hayne won the game for NSW despite Hodkinson's woeful performance.

It is time to forgive and forget Mitchell Pearce's "snatch and grab" night out. He is the superior scrum half in NSW. He needs to be back for Game 2.

You should be banned

Wouldn't surprise me if Marshall and Albert go all Nancy Kerrigan on Hokko and Reynolds

Hodkinson may not survive the next two NRL rounds without a serious injury. That won't be my fault.

If Hodkinson survives till the Game 2 selection night, expect more of his timidity and mediocrity to persist at the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile Mitchell Pearce will let his football finesse do the talking.
