2007 SEASON DRAW CONFIRMED
I am pleased to release our 2007 season draw complete with ground allocation.
Naturally, there are many factors that we are mindful of when allocating the various home grounds.
You will note that again we have a split of 6 games on a traditional basis and 6 on a commercial basis. The only change for 2007 being a move from playing the Warriors at Jade Stadium to playing the Melbourne Storm at the Central Coast Stadium – where we have previously enjoyed success and have a very strong supporter base. Season Draw
Regards,
Steve Noyce - Chief Executive

Round 2 v Manly LEICHHARDT
Round 5 v Cronulla CAMPBELLTOWN
Round 8 v Melbourne BLUETONGUE
Round 9 v Dragons TELSTRA
Round 12 v Eels TELSTRA
Round 14 v Titans CAMPBELLTOWN
Round 17 v Penrith TELSTRA
Round 19 v NZ CAMPBELLTOWN
Round 20 v NQ LEICHHARDT
Round 22 v Sydney TELSTRA
Round 24 v Souths LEICHHARDT
Round 25 v Knights TELSTRA

 Good to see some tradition kept (v Soufs @ Leichhardt) and a game going to a "regional centre" (v Storm @ Gosford). What does everyone think of this allocation?

Dragons Announce 2007 Home Game Venue Split
6 December 2006

Further re-development works at OKI Jubilee Stadium will see the St George Illawarra Dragons play the majority of their early season home games at the Kogarah venue.
The NRL released the 2007 schedule in mid-November, enabling the Dragons to determine the distribution of the home game program.
Dragons Chief Executive Officer Peter Doust said there were a number of issues to consider in making the decision including the building works at OKI Jubilee and venue clashes at WIN Stadium.
“We are very lucky to have two great venues within our region to play rugby league,” said Doust. “While the impact of the ongoing upgrade to OKI Jubilee Stadium is not ideal for our decision making, such a commencement date of works will try to ensure everything is back to normal in 2008.
“Part of our ongoing strategy is also to spread the opposition teams across our venues each year and we believe the venue allocation on balance, with all things taken into consideration, provides for an appropriate distribution of matches,” added Doust.

In 2007, the Dragons will host the Knights in their first home game at OKI Jubilee Stadium in Round 2 followed by the Storm (Rnd 5), Panthers (Rnd 8), Broncos (Rnd 12), Sharks (Rnd 13) and Sea Eagles (Rnd 16).

WIN Stadium will host the Cowboys (Rnd 3), Titans (Rnd 10), Raiders (Rnd 17), Bulldogs (Rnd 20), Rabbitohs (Rnd 22) and Eels (Rnd 24).

The Dragons will continue to honour their traditions with the St George Heritage game planned for Round 13 v Sharks; recognising 40 years of the “local derby” and Round 17 v Raiders the Illawarra Heritage game, as the Steelers and Raiders both entered the NSWRL competition in 1982.

The Dragons will play two pre-season matches, the first against the Bulldogs at WIN Stadium on February 24, followed by the traditional Charity Shield at Telstra Stadium v the Rabbitohs on March 3.

Yep. We call it home. We don't need the latest gregorys to find out where we are playing our home games. Oh and we just happen to be the only home ground right next to our club. Win lose or draw (golden point?) it's a big party and we are the envy of other clubs.

Telstra Stadium for 11 of our 12 home games. Our training headquarters and whatnot are all at Sydney Olympic Park IIRC... you were saying?

Telestra stadium built for 85K with a 10-15K crowd? Are you happy with that?

I have always believed a ground should have some charisma.

Toyota is built for 20k isn't it? Don't you usually draw about 11 or 12 to that ground, sometimes less?

I'm more than happy with my club being only second to Wests Tigers in Sydney for Home Crowd Averages.

Has been posted previously but cbf finding it.

2007 is the final year of the current Telstra deal with Wests Tigers, Noyce has always been non committal when asked if we will go back to 6-6 / Cambo - Lchhdt....Im sure they will go with telstra again though if they wish to :(

Funny thing is, the lack of games at Cambo & LO HAS made these games more attractive and ensured near capacity crowds there the last two years at least, absence makes the heart grow fonder so they say. I know I seem to look forward to them more, particularly leichhardt even though I'm an old Magpie, the tradition in that joint you cannot buy at Telstra, Parra or suncorp.

Warriors at Cambo should be an interesting day, we may have to score the first three tries to take the crowd out of the equation. :sarcasm:

Our run home isnt too shabby either, imo.

Round 19 20-23 July 2007
Wests Tigers v Warriors -Cambo

Round 20 27-30 July 2007
Wests Tigers v Cowboys -Leichhardt

Round 21 3-6 August 2007
Titans v Wests Tigers -Away

Round 22 10-13 August 2007
Wests Tigers v Roosters -Telstra

Round 23 17-20 August 2007
Sharks v Wests Tigers -Away

Round 24 24-27 August 2007
Wests Tigers v Rabbitohs -Leichhardt

Round 25 31 August, 1-3 September 2007
Wests Tigers v Knights-Telstra

Five of the last seven games at home.

I was of the impression that Wests Tigers don't get to choose which games they play at Telstra, rather Telstra choose the 6 games they want then let the Tigers divide the remaining 6 games between Leichhardt and Cambo, is this correct?

They probably have some say I reckon.

What the Tigpies want has to generally fit in with what Canterbury and Soufs have already been given.

Noyce has said several times that Telstra pay $100,000 per game, so the WT have to "please" Telstra.

Unlike nearly every over aspect of Telstra Stadium, here they seem to show some common sence
