Hopoate to Parra 2014

I know that he didn't want to leave Manly, I also know that Manly didn't want to lose him and did everything in their power to get him back here in 2 years. So the money parramatta offered would have had to be huge. I think $1.7 million is probably correct, over the next 4 years i.e. they will be paying him some money under the cap while he is away from the game for the next 2 years.

I'm disappointed that he has gone, but for that sort of money good luck to him!! I hope to see him back in Manly colours down the track. To parramatta fans enjoy the signing, but I don't think breaking the bank to sign Sandow and Hopoate will get you a premiership.

yeah yeah

the Storm lost Orford to you when they were rorting the cap and said it was due to massive dolars

your club of course denied that

seems more dodgy now

They are taking the new broadcast deal into account.

Our top players should be earning 1 million a year anyway.

So does the 200k they are paying him not to play for the next two years come off their cap?

$1.7 million would be bullshit, even Parra are not that dumb. The most I would believe is $1.2 million. $500k for 2014/15 plus $100k each year for 2012/13. Could not say no to that. He is good but not $1.7 million good for 2 years.

Well Weidler is known for overestimating what players are paid - I have never heard him 'underestimate' what a player is on, doesn't grab attention.

Questionable move. Jordan Rapana, the Titans guy, was impressive before he left, and I have no clue what he is up to these days. At that money...I don't know. Hopoate joining can cause someone off-contract in 2013 to not join Parramatta due to the cap.

I don't understand why you would pay the world for a guy who is only willing to commit to your club for 2 years after he leaves league for 2 years. Sign him for 3 or 4 years on stupid money? Fair enough. Only 2 years and then he can walk away from the club? Very short time frame to win a premiership and get some value out of the guy.

Agreed. If im shelling out top dollar, id want him on a long term commitment, 5 years at least

I loved how Channel 10 managed to track down John and he had absolutely no idea what was going on
