We signed Joey Lissick, not Darcy - unless you do mean Darcy? If so, Manly fans will tear their eyes out. Surely that isn't the case though.

theres no fear here - look hoppa is a great buy, anyone who disputes that is silly so good luck when he finally plays for you.

The problem is this this Parra dont know how to win - and comps arent always won by the best team its all about changing your club culture and having the right blend - parra have neither and are about 3 years away i think to getting even close.

The dogs who like us know how to dig deep are behind you guys in terms of player quality and will still win another before parra will.

You say this like you can predict the future, but if you've been paying attention we're getting rid of all the nice guys in the club.

Just like Manly and the Dogs we're reinventing ourselves as a bunch of merkins, and it's started with stealing young players other clubs wanted to keep. ;-)

Thanks for showing us the way. As soon as we're as good as Manly and the Dogs at throwing cheap shots, acting like merkins and making the world hate us to increase team bonding, we'll have another premiership in no time. Might even beat you guys back-to-back again. Manly never play well against us in the big games.

If so, Parramatta will have 3 of the top attacking players in our competition

It's a nice change, considering since 1986 we've had zero of the top attacking players anywhere.

Year after year nothing but honest toilers. Our best halves in that time have been John Simon (lol) and Jason Taylor (lolol).

Forget Hopoate (and Hayne); our best signing of the next decade will be Chris Sandow.

Imagine a halfback that can commit defenders!!! I was starting to think that was something that only happened at other clubs.

It's a big risk on Parra's part, I've got friends who are Mormons and they reckon when you're on mission it's very hard to train and eat properly. I don't think there's been a single Mormon who's come back from a mission and had success. They eat 3 normal meals a day and only have very limited time for exercise (30 mins a day if they're lucky). It's like having a racehorse and not training itfor 2 years and then expecting it to win group 1 races

Still not sold on Sandow. The Parramatta halfback position arguably holds the most expectation/pressure in the competition. It'll be an interesting season for him. Who is likely to partner him in the halves?

they'll need a decent dummy half. Isaac Luke did half the work for him.......constantly putting the defence on the back foot, in two minds, etc.

Geez, Souths are f**king stupid.

Good on you Hoppa, Good luck - who wouldn't go if the amount of money is anywhere near what has been reported.

I hope he comes back from his mission and gets better.... I imagine it will be hard with two years missing, has anyone come back from 2 years off and become a top level player?

we'll find out when cutie and folau return.

So that's why Manly fans are so cut! You manage to produce THREE juniors since, what, Menzies, and off they go to Parramatta! FMD, Manly make the Roosters look like a fertile breeding ground.

You wish Manly fans were cut, not many care. There's a premiership to celebrate. Good on Parra for signing Hoppa, he's a great signing.

Watmough, Lussick and Mauro. Foran's close enough. How many Parramatta juniors have won a premiership for Parramatta in recent years? Manly juniors know they can win a premiership if they stay loyal; Parra juniors know they need to bail to taste success.

In the past i think that is correct but things are changing from the Ground up at Parramatta and things will change in that respect inn the next few years.
What Kearney, Arthurs and Nolan has done for this club in 12mths is staggering, what they have planned is even better. This a complete turn in direction for the club and something our previous board and CEO couldn't see as they were still stuck in the '80's.
Manly have been proactive in things and thats why Parra haven't had success because they are reactive when it's too late. Thats all about to change and has started already.

That's because the Stewart stories fit with everything else we know about him - he's an arrogant merkin of a man who blames Gallop for him bringing the game into disrepute.

It makes sense that he would accost Gallop on the podium. He tried to make the grand final all about him.

But why should we believe Kearney has offered to make a teenaged rookie the highest paid player in the game? It doesn't fit with everything else we've seen from him - he came in and re-signed all our juniors on the cheap, and now he's shopping Mortimer and Poore around because he thinks they're on too much money.

I've no doubt Hopoate will be on very big money, but he won't be the highest paid player in the game. He won't even be the highest paid player at Parramatta.

Only because it's been 25 years since we had a good one.

I'd say Roberts first up, but considering Hayne (fullback) can kick we could really play anyone in the 6. Reni Maitua could even be a chance.

We won't play with split halves next year. Everything will revolve around the 1 and 7 in the middle of the park. The 6 will sit out to the left and wait his turn so the better question is who will partner Sandow at fullback.

and thats the point - you'll never be...

We're already on the way.

We stole your gun junior Will Hopoate. I'd say that's a pretty low merkin act in itself. You never would have seen that from the pre-2009 Eels.

Previously we had a CEO - Denis FitzFail - who refused to shell out the big bucks to any player at another club. Even the 'Canterbury Four' of 1996 weren't poached by Parra - they had signed ARL contracts and couldn't stay at the (Super League) Bulldogs, and it was actually guys like Fulton and Gould who were instrumental in getting them to the Eels.

Anyway I'm sure you can see the new ruthless Eels are here, and we know it's new because this is the first time Manly fans have ever had to cry about losing a player they wanted to keep. Especially to Parramatta.

I imagine it must be frightening for you, as change generally is.

Paul Osbourne revealed the figures toured in the media for Hopoate's salary are complete bollocks. Not only that, John Hopoate has not been offered a coaching job.
Wouldn't that be funny if Will is on 350-400K and Manly still didn't get him.

Congrats to Parra for signing Will for 2014, so far Jamie, Wolfman, Trex, buhrer have won Manly 2 premierships so the Eels figured out it worked in their favour to buy smart. Good on the Eels for trying to better themselves.

Trent Hodkinson was no good at the Eels (injuries etc), came to Manly and scored himself a good pay rise at the Dogs.

I think someone should ask Trent if he still feels he made the right choice after seeing the rookie Cherry-Evans win his first premiership last Sunday but jst to throw in some fun maybe Will decided he is happy enough with just the one premiership ring in his career so he decided to switch to the Eels.

One thing that can not be denied is the fact the whole family is going over this effectively cuts all ties the Hopoate family had with Manly, after all the years they stuck by him even after John had a short stint as a proctologist with the Tigers (a failed decision to chase money) and even after Manly payed Will since he was 14 and helped the family out. As disappointing as losing Will to the Mormans was, his choice did not seem to be based around money where as this choice certainly is it is no coincidence that Will's brother is involved in the switch as they are very family orientated and look out for each other.

Good luck in 2014, thanks for the flick pass in the grand final and at least he has given the Eels something to look forward to in 24 months :p
