I haven't seen the origin 'Hitcher' but saw the re-make recently. I wasn't that impressed. I'm guessing the original is far superior.

the only good thing about the new one is sophia Bush there was no supense in the new one at all like the original

still isnt this horror flicks i thought Hitcher was a thriller?

Rutger Hauer IS John Ryder, casting anyone else in the role is like not having James Earl Jones play the voice of Darth Vader.

The original Hitcher is nothing but classic, confirmed for me that under no circumstances should you ever, EVER pick up a hitchhiker.

Trick or Treat

Classic.

Seeing Ozzy as an evangelist, Gene Simmons as a shock jock, and Skippy from Family Ties as a metalhead nerd outcast, this movie has 80's written all over it, not to mention a pretty cool soundtrack for it's time.

Sammi Curr rocks! lol

Haha, it is pretty freakin' good......I don't know how I stumbled across it........I taped it on Optus about 6-7 years ago........only a month ago did I stumble across a copy sitting on the DVD shelf at DICK FREAKIN' SMITH! ahhahahaha..........I snatched that thing faster that a 1980s blue lightning bolt effect.

Sammi Curr was a great character, the guy really did a great job.....died a few years back if I'm not mistaken.

Rutger Hauer played villian roles to perfection. Blade Runner, The Hitcher and Nighthawks is proof of this. VERY underrated actor. I love him to death, but he has made a lot of bad project choices.

Rutger had more talent in his toenail than Sean Bean (the remake hitcher) had in his whole body.

http://www.umbrellaent.com.au/genres/show/11 - is a good site for reissued horror

80's slasher horror is freakin' cool.......I love the dark, fuzzy quality of the films and the cheesy acting just hits the spot....I hate 1970s horror so I only want to watch anything between 1982-1996.

I scour EzyDvd and any cheap DVD stall to find killer 80s horror at a cheap price.....Ezy DVD bargain bins are goldmines.

I love:

Trick or Treat
Reanimator (all incarnations)
Demons 1 and 2

I've got a whole bunch to go through, just haven't had the time.....Fright Night, Prom Night 1,2 and 3, Bud the Chud II, etc.

Excellent Link, thanx for that :)

I love 80's bodge horror, its good stuff. Good to see Basket Case there. A bodge classic :)

LOL i just mentioned Hauer in the underrated thread, just before reading this. Spot on, he's an absolute legend imo. Would have loved to have seen him play Lestat in Interview with the Vampire instead of that ponce Cruise.

Makeup could have made him look a bit younger, but he would be the perfect Lestat imo. Cruise ruined one of the best characters ever imo. Cant cop him lol, i refuse to watch anything he's in :)

I watched this last night. (The original.)
(Not that 2007 remake sh*t! I hear it's worse!)

The acting was terrible.
Although Jamie Lee Curtis danced terrific!
She really moved didn't she?

It was her brother at the end who was the killer, right?

This '80's version was just a cheap Halloween rip off with no direction.

I bought it the other day for $14.

God the acting was terrible.

The blonde with the perfect boobs was good looking and it was funny that fat guy in the van.
Who'd date him?
See the killer put the sheers through that lady in the van and the kooky music?
And the axe through that bulky guys neck and being executed momentarily as a result for your efforts was neat.

I liked the start though with the empty ghost school and walking up the empty corridors.

Terrible though.

OF course the acting was terrible ... thats why 80's horror should be its own genre :) I remember this movie, im pretty sure it featured a very pretty girl getting owned by a shish kebab too(or was that Happy Birthday To Me ?). Ahhhh now thats 80's horror !!

The shish kebab is most likely from Happy Birthday To Me as there's a guy on the cover of the DVD who doesn't look to happy to see the kebab haha......unfortunately I didn't sit through that movie because it doesn't have a shred of 80s fashion or synthesiser based soundtrack......this movie should be banned from any 80s horror list!
