I wanna try and get this one next.

I think Slinky was the killer in this one.

Remember Tango and Cash? Stallone's prison mate Slinky?

And wasn't Slinky the rat killer in that Dial-9-4-7-Evil movie too? (remember the pigs eating that fool in the bathtub? Ripping out all his innards?)

He was also the Smog Killer in Seinfeld wasn't he?
"A blurb? A blurb! look at the front cover, idiot!"

Or, is that a different actor?

Who was Rughead in Charlie Sheens The Wraith movie? Was it the same actor? Great soundtrack that. Wish I could get hold of it.

I also wanna see Terror Train with J.L.Curtis as well.

I've got Black Christmas at home on video.
Old movie about a guy in the house making calls and harassing twits.
Bills wife Adrea from IT was in this movie.

Gary Busey's Hidder in the House is actually not a bad movie either.

Pirahna is for sale for only $8 I noticed the other day.

I've got Freddy's Dead (part 6) and Return of the Living Dead 2 on order at a shop currently. It's been 3 weeks now, nothing!

P.S. is Happy Birthday To Me the one with the punk in the garage working on a motorbike and gets, umm, I forget.
The front cover used to be black with a leather clad person right? With the hot poker in their mouth yer?

Oh by the way...I watched Scarecrows about 2 weeks ago on video.
Not bad. Think their was an Aussie in it. Burke?
scarecrows_vhs.jpg

The Scarecrows would stuff people with money 'n sh*t sow 'em back up.

This is another cheap piece of sh*t I haven't seen in a long time.
I used to just love the front covers of videos as a kid.
I'd go in the video shop and be in awe. The smell I can remember right now. The fascination of looking at all the different video covers. Remember Grizzly?

51me6gVQ0uL._AA240_.jpg

Deathship used to scare the b-jesus out of me.
I was fascinated by this video cover as a kid.

My Bloody Valentine?

What was that video cover from the '80's that used to have a female skeleton on the cover with sickly bloody wet hair and it was a screaming skull?
I've been sitting here for the last 20 minutes and the hell if I can remember what it was called.
The Slaughtering or something? The Phropecy?
That cover used to scare me green.
Never saw the movie though.

Clint Howard, brother of Ron. No mention of him the credits at all.

noyd?

Same related Howard guy as the Fonzie bloke? Same director Howard fella?

I bought American Grafitti the other day.
I like Han Solo in his black car.
"Is that color piss yellow??

Grease is next on my agenda.

A movie collection isn't complete without Grease.

I grew up on that.

This is what's good about horror movies - you mixed your comedies with them to lighten to the mood.
We used to watch Police Acedemy then Friday the 13th 4 or 5.

Or you'd throw on Karate Kid to make yourself cheerful again after friggin' Deathwish or Evil Dead.

Watch Halloween two follow it up with Every which way but lose.

P.S. to this day I've never watched the original Alien movie or that other one you guys were referring to When a Stranger Calls. (The original.)
For some reason I cannot watch those films.
I think I remember the start of when a stranger calls, something about a bathtub and it being filled with blood?

I had The Shinning in my hand the other day. Only $16 I put it back at the last minute. It goes for bloody 138 minutes?
I wish they'd release a DVD of Michael Caines Jack the Ripper. I got it on video.
I grew up with that music to that film.
They'd go to an ad on TV (Chanel 7?) and play that British sounding music.
Good movie.
What was that other M. Caine movie where he'd dress as a sheila and had this friggin' 18inch blade?

Anyone ever watch X-tro? For a British movie it's not bad. The green toy soldier comes to life and shoots pricks up.

I don't know about you but I'm in the mood to watch Convoy.
It's only $12.

Horror movies in the 70's / 80s tend to get a bad wrap, but in general they are a lot better than the standard brought out today. "Hoebroken Hollow" (Dennis Hopper, Michael Madsen) is quite simply the worst horror movie I've ever seen. Hills with eyes 2 makes the grand final.

The Slayer is the cover that used to frighten me in the video shop. Can't find an image that fits the old cover.

This retro 80's type horror thread has captured me and sucked me in.
I'm starting to pull out my old videos and watch 'em again.

Last night for instance I found this old one I posses called Just Before Dawn.
just_before_dawn05.jpg

It's a rip-off of a rip-off film from Friday the 13th to Madman. (Remember Madman?)

Just before Dawn has two demented brothers walking around with slingblades, some people call it a Kaizerblade, I call it a slingblade mmm hmm, and they stab people with it. One guy cops it though his pelvis and arse.

The back cover of the film goes, "Warning: the last ten minutes of the film contain graphic scenes of horror which may prove unnerving to certain viewers."
Yer who - The Milat brothers?
The last ten minutes were no different than the rest of the film.
It wasn't even creepy in fact it was actually laughable.

And what was worse was after the film a preview came on called EndGame.
Holy sh*t.
I haven't laughed so hard in my life.
The actors were stiff and they had Star Track makeup on.
Mad Max type cars with pointy bits 'n sh*t.
Make an effort to see the preview for EndGame!:sarcasm:

remember when you used to go into the video store and a lot of horrors would have 'banned in Queensland' on the cover

you always knew there must be something extra in them and it made you want to hire it

so what was with the Queensland censorship?

Just did a quick google search........

Here's something that I found on the Banned In QLD label.......

In reference to the DAY OF THE DEAD here is what happened.

Roadshow Home Video released it soon after on video on their Premiere label. The cover uses an image from the 1985 film RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. The cover also proudly states * Banned in Queensland *. This would have been one of the last titles to sport such advertising. The Goss Labor Government came to power in late 1989, and the Queensland's Films Board of Review (in place since 1974), was soon abandoned.
Here's some more info.......read under the Australian section for more info

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_films

1990: Gail Malone is fired and the Queensland Film Board of Review is disbanded when the new Labor Premier Wayne Goss is outraged that the Board had banned an edited version of Bad Taste after a three-week run in cinemas (the South Australian Classification Council cut it by a further 4 min 30 sec for an M rating). It is later released uncut on DVD. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors was also banned for a brief period, but later released on VHS and DVD.

Haha, apparently Jackson is up for doing a sequel........screw LOTR.......this guy needs to get back into horror.

The censorship has always been a bit weird but then again, some of the thinking north of the border has always been that way.

Our former dictator Joe is the one to thank for the 'Banned in Queensland' covers.
I actually remember why they banned NOES 3. The geniuss on the censorship board thought it would lead to teen suicide.

Damn I'm glad Joe is dead, shame he can't come back as a zombie, it would be fun to shoot him in the head.

That's what I was thinking the other day too.

Certain ones were banned in QLD or The A.C.T. weren't they?

I think one of 'em was Zombie Holocaust or something.

One of those zombie cannibal eating movies.

Cannibal Holocaust?

People would just drive 'em over the border anyway.

Texas Chainsaw was banned in England altogether.
It was only released there around the 90's wasn't it?

Here's a photo of my DVD's I purchased yesterday.

I'm getting Return to Horror High on Friday.
It's being deleted and will not be available.

Yer I paid money for 'em.

Not like you computer pirates who burn everything!

I laid out exactly $100 yesterday on DVD's.

I got the following.
Piranha
Problem Child
Children of the Living Dead
Tob Hooper Collection
Terror Train and Rosemary's Killer.

Is Rosemary's Killer a sequel to Rosemary's Baby?

The Tob Hopper collection has Eaten Alive, Spontaneous Combustion and some doco on it.

I only watched half of Terror Train last night as channel 7 put some killer thing on at 9:30pm last night about the Green River Killer in Seattle. (The ad interuptions were shocking.)

I'll watch the other half of Terror Train tonight.

JB-Hi-Fi has a rather poor selection of horror films.
They didn't even have any of the Freddy movies.

Is there a giant movie warehouse where you can get all the old cheesey horror movies in SYD any where?

Maybe that old heavy metal shop Utopia? Although they'd probably slap top dollar on their sh*t. I haven't been in there in a while. They moved down from the cinema right?

El Diablo? Was Maniac a British flick? There was two movies that went under the title Maniac wasn't there as well as two movies that went under the titled Deranged as well.
