How am i going to live?

Me and a friend of mine (hopefully) will get approved to move into this unit on the sunny coast. It costs 200 a week, so thats 100 each per week.

Now here is where the problem lays, i will get 360 a f/n in youth allowance and rent assistance. This only leaves me 70 bucks a week to spend on food and alcohol(10 bucks a week will get put away for electricity). My alcohol budget cant go under 40 a week. So that leaves 30 a week for food.. Is it possible for me to survive on 30 a week worth of food? What are the cheapest foods in relation to taste and filling your tummy capabilities?

Any poor uni/tafe students like me care to tell me how they survive paying for rent, food and alcohol..

I might go at it this way.. Get a carton of beer, drink 6 stubbies before i go out, if i go out once a week the carton will last a month. Which is good. Leaving me around 30 bucks to spend at clubs, a week, 30 will go a fair way if i stick to beer.

We will also have a still to brew our own spirits, so this could be a good thing, but chances are it will taste like shit, dad has one and his burbon tastes nothing like a good jimmy..

Should i also obtain a home brew kit for beer?

I am not buying it, i am renting it.. And it is walking distance to the beach(100m) with beach views. Walking distance to the clubs(1km) and running distance to tafe (4k). It is fully furnished.. 200 a week(well 100 a week each as there is 2 of us) is a bargain i would say.

f**k no, my course runs all week and finishes at 6 on friday. Only job i could get would be a weekend job. Probably in a bar as i have worked at an rsl for the past 18 months, every friday and saturday night, and that is not fun at all. I would rather just be a poor ass then work every friday and saturday, well my course would only allow for a saturday shift, no one would hire me if thats all i could work. Plus working weekend nights is not fun did i mention that already?

I have built up a very healthy savings, but i dont want to eat into that.

Laundry will just go in the electricity bill, as there are washing machines, either that or give my washing to mum. Toothpaste and soap are things that will last a month or longer, a 4 pack of soap will last ages.. Those things are little one off extras which should be affordable.

No way you will surivive dude!!....when i first moved out i was in a similar situation....i started bugeting good for the couple of weeks then i wen't overboard!!

You will find a chick....or you will go looking for one that costs money!!.

Little things will cost you & unfortunately you will not have enough!!

Get a part time job somewhere stacking shelves....that should cover for the losses!

I have f**k all time. I could only work 1 shift a week, and like they would hire someone who could only do 1 shift.

My parents said they will come down with a heap of food every so often so that should help. And my friends parents would do the same too.

I dont think the female thing is a problem, im too stupid to even get one so eh..

It's good that youir parents are helping you out with food......mine done the same thing!!

The only other solution is to find another person :shock:.....but he'll have to be a full time worker otherwise centrelink will cut your rental assistance.
