How did you select your team to support

I was 6 years old when St George made the grand final. Living in the St George district our school was covered in red and white steamers and the newspaper had an iron on transfer Mum ironed a dragon transfer onto a white t shirt for me the year was 1977 and my mind was made up there and then I was a St George supporter and that grand final started a love affair with the red and white that still shines bright today.

St George played the Eels in that grand final all the drama of the first ever drawn grand final extra time and a replay the next week which saints won 22-0. I was hooked. They then won again 2 years later in 79..

Our next door neighbor was the ground announcer at jubilee oval at the time and took myself and brothers to all the home games. That is how I became a Dragons fan. I was wondering how everyone else came to support their club of choice?

Growing up in QLD it was either the Broncos or Cowboys. I didn’t really like either of them, although now I do have a soft spot for all three qld teams. I was around 7-8 years old when the Storm came along, jumped on the new team bandwagon. Been a diehard Storm fan ever since.

My aim was to select the team with the least amount of lesbians on the roster. So I did an depth case study. Did a lot of research and crunched the numbers. Spoke to insiders at every club and travelled to a number of well known homosexual hotspots before choosing the Knights. Pretty impressive work from a 5 year old.

I grew up in the Mascot area my parents never followed the game so I wasn't brainwashed into following a team, I could have followed Souths or the Roosters like most of my friends at school but I chose the Sharkies...

I'm a Kiwi, thus the Warriors. Little did I know the hours of therapy/LU counselling I'd need to commit to each year. I should have read the fine print.

Before that I was a Manly fan because they had Graham Lowe as coach, Tony and Kevin Iro, Darrell Williams, Matthew Ridge and the footballing God Clifford Lyons. Great fun to watch.

My family were born in Mascot, so all but my grandma loved Souths.
Moved to South Hurstville. Then Mortdale/Pensy after i was born.
So could have gone for Souths or Dragons. But Grandma loved Cronulla.
So i chose Cronulla.

All teams have won only one each since ive been alive.

Grew up in Paddington about a 100 metres from the old Sports Ground, you could hear the crowd and siren from home, my father used to take me to a few of the games but at my young age I was more content with playing on the hill than watching the game, we also used to go and watch the Roosters train at the Sports Ground and the SCG sometimes. Also my best friend at school at the time his father played for Easts, his name was Geoff Chambers. Loved growing up in Paddo and 99% of the school kids followed Easts at the time.
