How does Rabs still have a job?

Andrew Voss is the best caller by a million miles in my opinion.

However, him and ego maniac Hadley don't get along.

Voss should be the number caller.

Rabs is commentating the Raiders tonight. Last time he remembers commentating one of there games is the '94 GF.

Don't be surprised to hear 'MULLINS!' if Reece Robinson scores.

pretty sure i heard a "nathan scott" early on on wednesday night. The fact that someone like me who does 60+ hours a week doing something that is well far away from anything to do with the game can rattle of each teams top 25, recognise them by sight and pronounce them correctly but someone who gets paid just to do that can't is pretty sickening.

How many horse racing terminologies tonight?

Not sure if anyone is watching the Lions/Wallabies match, but the commentary is far more professional than the tripe that Nine dishes out. The commentary is focused on the match, not seagulls or random crap that has nothing to do with the game, and they know all the players names

Even the dark skinned ones? Wow.

He was ok, better than Hadley at least.

Still has the Warren Smith style of calling where if something exciting happens you just get louder but keep the same tone of voice.

This guy is the biggest jibberer in the history of sport, along with Gould, but at least Gould provides some insightful comments especially when he is away from Rabs.

I can't remember the last time I've heard Rabs say something insightful about a game. Today he talked about how he was going to gt to his State of Origin match, how he drinks Mylanta before a game and how Jeff Lima sounds like he is from the wiggles more than the game

Besides the comedy it provides, and having an iconic sounding voice, his commentary is actually hurting games. If the commentators aren't showing a vague interest in the game, its only going to rub off on the people watching it

He's an alcoholic and a gambler. He has blown money on these two things so has little superannuation - so has to keep working (GFC 2007-09 wouldn't have helped, either).

Rabs is OK. He's a world-class loser, but OK...similar to a handful of souffs fans out there.

why don't you give up your other job & send in some audition tapes to Channel 9 or Fox Sports ? Or just turn up to one of them & demand a job ?

Mat Thompson is fairly new to Ch 9, he's been calling the Super Intrust Cup matches but also called NYC games in 2008.

Thought he went ok today, still better than Raaayy and Gilbert today.
