Sounds like some great bowling from the "second best spinner in the world".

Or should that be, "second best spinner in the world if Murali, Kumble, Harbhajan and Kaneria did not exist."

You can add DL Vettori to that list as well.

In answer to your question: not very.

By the way Iafeta, Vettori is nowhere near as lethal a weapon in test matches as Macgill is.

Danny was great against Aussie in the tests and ODI...

If you read what I wrote, you'd see I said 'in test matches'.

Let's compare stats:

Macgill's test average is 28.81, compared to Vettori's 35.06.

Macgill's test strike rate is 54.5 compared to Vettori's 79.2.

Macgill's economy in tests is slightly worse than Vettori's, although there's not alot in it- Not that a good economy is anywhere near as desirable in tests as strike rate or average.

I think it's fair to say that Macgill is a better test bowler than Vettori.

Easier coming on at 4/80, on a bouncy Australian deck, or a turning SCG, then when Vettori comes on invariably at 2/100 on a low slow seamer.

If Vettori bowled behind McGrath, Lee, Gillespie and Kasper as often as MacGill has, his record would be far different for mine.

Do you know anything about cricket?

Macgill is obviously not in the ODI team because his style generally incurs runs to take wickets - not a good thing in ODIs.

In tests, meanwhile, where people are less liekly to go the slog every other ball, Macgills style is right at home and he has brilliant figures. The only thing that's kept him out of the team on a regular basis is Warne.
