He was dropped already due to those 15 test. They will wipe the slate clean now. All they can look for is Pura cup form.

so a couple of games wipes out a year of sh*t???

I guess that's fair enough, because for kasper and martyn a couple of games wiped out a year of fine work...

Is this Aust leading the world in selection policy?

I'm not saying a couple of games. He has to perform for the whole Pura cup season.
As for Kaspa and Martyn age isn't on their side they were in a form slump and thats there career. You guys were complaining Aus is too old, Aus don't have an talent for the future. Now when we try and look to the future you are saying Martyn and Kaspa should be back.

I don't care how old they are - i was just laughing when Hohns and various people here started raving about changing of the guard, and the next generation - I didn;t realise that meant introducing a bunch of 30-31 year olds...

These guys have another 4-5 years in them. Thats long enough for the next generation to come in. If thats more 30-31 year old then so be it. As long as they are good enough then there is no problem.

This knock by Clark makes selection interesting for the 1st test against SA in Perth in 2 weeks.
I doubt Macgill will play as the selectors will be reluctant to play 2 spinners in Perth, so I guess Bracken will come in for him.

But Symonds is in the side as an All rounder, will they take him out for a batsmen? If so who? Clarke would have to be first in line you would think.

lucky our selectors actually watch cricket instead of surfing the net for stats to pick the team

it helps if you know a bit about the game

big Merve revealed on Inside Cricket last night that Symonds is there as a batsman, who can give the bowlers a rest, nothing more

Merve didn't rate Symonds as an all rounder

what's the problem twizzle?? not so good with numbers? Obviously we should ignore facts and go with your opinion...

At least I understand the lbw law, something you clearly didn't...

Even so, his spot must be in question as a batsmen

Interesting question, If Ponting fell off a bridge tomorrow who would be the next batsmen in line?

Clarke ?
Martyn ?
Lehman ?
Jaques ?
Katich ?

no problem here

in my opinion, there is so much more to cricket than studing stats

you really should get out and watch a game of cricket one day, you may actually learn something about the game without have to read about it

Katich could well get in. Jaques also would come into consideration. 3 is too high for Clarke, Martyn is gone as is Lehmann.

yeh, no doubt

he had wraps on Jaques as being mentioned alot at selection meetings

he also said it takes years to develop a genuine all rounder, indicating they were prepared to persevere with Watson for a fair bit longer,

the thing is - I do both...

Your problem seems to be that neither I, nor the numbers Clarke has put up in his last 15 tests support your perception that he's some kind of superstar...

I have no argument that he's talented - but he needs to mature a lot, and improve his discipline and decision making a lot before he becomes a success in test cricket...

But if you think an average of 25 (inflated by 2 50's) is good, then more power to you. Personally, I don't see much value in watching a stylish 5

Hodge- number 3 (that is where he bats at state level)
Hussey- number 4
Crosgrove- number 5
Watson/Symonds/Clarke- number 6, probally watson.
