Yes!!

That rule defies belief.

On the incident, nothing. Penalty was sufficient.

Unfortunate what happened to Waqa, but if he hadn't landed on his head, he wouldn't have even gone on report. The injury can't determine the punishment.

The rule doesn't defy belief, it makes perfect sense. Just think about it for a minute.

I'd have to watch the replays again because I only saw it on the big screen at the game but if there's intent from Farrell to make contact then I think he deserves a suspension even though Waqa was in a compromising position it's the defenders duty to make sure any contact made isn't dangerous imo. If it's accidental contact which seems likely having read all the posts in this thread then yeh I agree he should escape suspension.

Like everyone else I just hope Waqa isn't seriously injured.

Total accident. Zero weeks. He proped and turned to look for the ball . He didn't attempt to tackle him in the air.

I get what you are saying, but in my view, if it's a contest for the ball, it matters little whether you are the attacker or the defender. And, as Perth Red pointed out, its equally dangerous to either contestant.

He also accidentally broke Yow Yeh's leg.

12 weeks min.

Players will be safer with him suspended.

Imagine a bomb to the wings on the tryline were the defenders would have to stand around waiting for the player to land.

It does matter if your a defender or attacker.

And that's irrelevant the defender isn't obliged to contest the ball.

Read the post I was replying to.

I have no problem with the rule as it is.

What I have a problem with is when players don't even attempt to tackle the player in the air.

He dropped his shoulder and ran straight into sisas legs.

LU "Stop changing the rules all the time"

One off random incident "change the rules!!!"

Honestly if the type of knee jerk rule change that is being proposed is brought in the whole game becomes a cluster f**k.

After watching it a few more times, I don't think there is much intent there.

Credit to Farrell though for immediately showing concern for Sisa.

None. How could you give weeks for that? Farrell just ran in front of Waqa in the air. Waqa just fell awkwardly.

A few years ago Inglis deliberately pushed Kevin Gordon's legs in the air and sent him flying. Was that even a penalty?

Farrell hasn't done anything wrong. It was an accident.

Yes it was , the refs said he put gordon in a dangerous position awarded gordan a penalty.

Originally I didnt think he had much to worry about but after watching that replay it looks as though he intended to take his legs out and in doing so put the attacker in a dangerous position. All it comes down to now is was it careless , reckless etc for a grading.

you guys are dead set blind. He stops, turns from the ball, and braces himself to hit waqa. Doesn't matter though, was quite clear from last night who the chosen ones were so he'll get nothing

He braces himself to jostle with Waqa for position. It's obvious he was expecting a bumping duel for the ball. He wasn't expecting Waqa to try to hurdle over the top of him. You can see him try to flatten himself out across the back once Waqa leaps above his shoulders.

Big trouble here. 5 weeks. changed his line, no use of arms, tunneled his legs and got Sisa into a dangerous position. season over IMO!

Can tackle attacking players around the torso area in the air. But can't touch the legs.

He made contact with his shoulder (accidental or not ask Snowden).

There's a few weeks in it for Farrell.

hope Sisas OK , however that looked pretty innocent to me .
This is a risk that players take when they jump over the shoulders of defending players.
